Downtown Stamford, Ct location....comfortable, clean and pleasant room...not crazy about the artificial fireplace...but I can live with it....

Friendly and skilled guy behind the bar.

Impressive list of drafts

We enjoyed a few tasty appetizers

Worthy spot

Trendy downtown bar with extensive and varied craft menu. Bar seats about 20 and there is a separate dining area. Knowledgeable, friendly bartenders. Did not eat, but menu looked inviting.

Visited shortly after opening on a Sunday afternoon.

Vibe: Nice place - booths at the edges, high tables in the middle, and a nice long bar. Not crowded. Nice long tap system right out front at the bar making it pretty clear this is a serious beer establishment. Lots of dark wood, but well lit.

Quality: Lots of craft beer and microbrews, and for the imports, staples as well as highly ranked beers. Definitely high marks for quality.

Service: I arrived on a early Sunday lunch period and not a lot of people there so keep this in mind when you read my review. No wait period - sat down at the bar, quickly looked over the menu, made my order, and was mostly left alone. Attentive enough bartender/waitress, and either she sized me up as someone who knew what they wanted, or just left me alone since I was dining by myself. Hard to say but in either case it was fine.

Selection: Extensive tap list and equally extensive bottle list. Tap list was 98% US, with only Guinness being the sole import on draft. The rest were US craft, with a lot of local CT breweries. Bottle list broken down by West Coast, rest of the US, and imports (European only). Plenty for every taste and style to pick from.

Food: I had the warm duck confit salad and a chocolate espresso creme brulee for dessert. The salad was very good as was the desert. I suspect the rest of the menu, which looked like higher end comfort food, but with gourmet flavor combinations, to be pretty good. Salad, dessert, and two beers + tip = $39. Not too bad. I would definitely visit again.

Awesome craft beer selection no matter what you're in the mood for, both draft and bottled. I was at Cask Republic a few days ago and had three sour beers on draft, going from sour to sourer to sourest (the middle beer was Rodenbach Grand Cru). That was a lot of fun. I haven't had much food there but what I've had has been tasty. Rating would be higher except the prices are a bit on the high side.
