Finally made it to SP Cellar. Met the hype and more. Great selection beers on tap and bottled. Broad and very well curated range of SP; Shared and guest beers. Taps set at different temperatures to match with beer. Had an amazing Foedered Flanders Red on cask; excellent Saisons and otherwise wild ales. Couple of very rare imperial Stouts. And plenty of other styles and choices. Nice if small selection of To Go beers. In house consumption beers really lend themselves to sharing. Staff were passionate; energetic and really out to help both novices and seasoned sippers on the beers. Lovely comfortable 2 bar set up with many tables. Soft lighting helped intimacy but not so soft that the place wasn’t full of fun and excitement.
Otherwise, full bar and wine cellar... both also well curated, and worth a stop regardless of beer. In our case it was perfect for friends who prefer whiskey or wine... but could then try styles and quality of beers that didn’t know existed. Opened up their eyes and palate beautifully.
Had heard pricing was high, but we went the route of 5oz pours so we could sample as much as possible and still get back to hotel. While the price of 1/2 pours was slightly higher than other breweries the quality was that much higher and was SO worth it. We split about 10 half pours; had a local share one of his bottles and a bit more for an extremely reasonable cost. Which helped me grab 3 bottles for the suitcase.
It was just beer heaven.
Only downside was lack of food on site.
One of very best I’ve visited in states or overseas.

They've done an expert job making this space seem much bigger than it appears, with angles that hide little nooks that seem like they could go on forever. The very uniquely shaped bar adds seating that might be a little awkward at times, while at others, really facilitates conversation and, most importantly, bottle sharing.

They have a vast selection of beverages to imbibe, not just beer but whiskey and wine, and it can be insanely overwhelming, especially taking into account their impressive beer cellar list. Not only do they tend to offer some of their more rare, harder to get ahold of bottles for on-site enjoyment, but they also try to include some other well-respected, comparable guest bottles and drafts as well. The thing is, the prices are jacked about as far up as you can get them. But if you build it, they will come. And they sure do.

The beer is all of an excellent quality, and the service is prompt, helpful yet unobtrusive. The atmosphere is sleek yet cozy and rustic, very well-designed and refined for the spot.

Went here in 2016 & watched them turn away (in an impolite manner) a couple dozen thirsty customers because, “We don’t take people off busses.” Went yesterday and started eating lunchbwhile drinking a couple Side Project beers. Was hastily shooed out for, “no food on premises!” Beer was average and overhyped. Also, I had to listen to the bar tender speaking her negative opinion of police officers.
Overall just a real bad experience. There are numerous brewpubs in the area that easily beat this one, especially in the service department.

Visited St Louis in Nov 2018 and was lucky enough to have the time to spend an evening at the Side Project Cellar.

The Vibe is friendly and welcoming. I took a seat at the bar which always gives me a better feel for the vibe of a place. The crowd seems to be a mix of enthusiastic locals and beer fans passing through town. The place feels like a cross between a local bar and a winery tasting room.

The quality of the beer is world class and the prices reflect that. The beer is good enough to command the price, but I wouldn't come here looking discount pricing.

Service is top notch. The person that served us, really knew her beer well and helped guide us to some excellent choices.

They have an excellent selection of guest beers here, but the Side Project list is really the story. Its an outstanding list. The list includes draft beers, in house bottles, and bottles to go. Some of the in house bottles are only for in house, consumption. This Includes on-site limited bottles that are no longer available for retail purchase.

This place is definitely on my highly recommend list,

Made my second visit there in September (it will be a yearly thing from here on out). Great beer. Some would say it's pricey. I say you get what you pay for. Great vibe. I always find the other patrons are friendly and engaging. The staff is second to none. Always a great selection of Side Project and Shared offerings to go. Might have to find a way to head down during the winter.

Super relaxing tap room, with a beautifully curated selection of barrel aged beers. Lots of great guest taps as well. Side project and Shared beers to go. It is pricey, but you pay for the quality. Great place.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon that wasn't a release day. Really nice, larger-than-it-feels space with a nice tap and bottle list. The bartenders were friendly. A must visit for me.

An even more rustic and european vibe than the brewery, which had a more modern feel to it. Cellar is more of a upscale neighborhood bar, with all sorts of wines, whiskey and beer available, and certainly not exclusive to Side Project offerings. Lots of good choices on draft and in bottle, the service at the bar is prompt and quick. Selection is fantastic, you'll always have Side Project offerings on draft, in bottle and to-go (same to-go selection as at SPB), but you also have excellent whiskey available as well as non-SP beers both on draft and in the bottle.

Nice cozy feel, as if I was drinking in my friends basement bar. Quiet, light music playing. Decent crowd for a Wednesday evening. Ample parking (big plus in this area). Wait staff very attentive and personal feeling. Now, the selection - some of the best beer that money can buy, Side Project, Perennial and others. The quality is upscale, so bring some cash and enjoy some of the best there is in the area. Will definitely go back again.

An amazing selection of not only Side Project's own beer, but from some of the best breweries in the world all in a very relaxed environment. The only downside to this place is the size. Very small and it can get packed on weekends and in the evenings but if you are passionate about good beer, the Side Project Cellar is an absolute must.

Chill vibe. Cozy feel. I could see this place getting pretty packed at busy times. Only one small bathroom became a bit of a problem. Excellent beer selection and not just Side Project stuff. They update the bottle list on their website regularly. Interesting to me how the menu is organized by temperature. Everything is top quality. Somewhat pricey but for the best of the Side Project beers, it's worth it in my opinion (Example: $25 for 375mL Fuzzy). Sharing is encouraged of course and they ask how many glasses you need and will let you pour yourself if you choose. Staff has friendly. They also have a really nice whiskey selection. Overall, a really great place and I'm looking forward to going back when I have the opportunity.

This was one of my fondest experiences, when it comes to brewery tap rooms. The beers I had were all exceptional, the space was friendly and warm, and the staff attentive. The co-owner was serving, and she lost track of my order briefly, so she comp'd me it, which was unexpected but welcome. The place was hopping for a Tuesday night. I loved the place, and would seek it out.

I really like their beer. I only knew that I was actually getting beer by the taste, because their lighting wasn't doing me any favors at all. Not sure if electricity in Missouri is just really expensive, but damn. You couldn't even read the menu without going over to the window. Staff was a little bit gruff but at the end of the experience I had a set of stellar beers to drink. They have a good selection of sours and IPA's.

Really small quaint brick building houses a beer centric bar with plenty of beer and bourbon to choose from. The interior features neutral colors, and natural wood giving it a simple, easy feel. Tap handles are all chrome and identical. Decor includes canvas prints of Side Project beers and empty bottles from all over the world (Side Project, Cantillon, Russian River, Bourbon County, etc.) The draft beer selection is seperated by serving temperature, and the cellared beer bottles being listed by style. Beer listings are housed in a leather covered binder with sleeves to allow updating the list frequently.

With the place being so small, it can get packed quick. With the world class selection of beers, it's easy to sit back and converse over a few quality beers over the course of a few hours. The prices were a bit high, but with the small seating area and prestige, and the fact that these aren't all beers you can get every day anywhere else, means they have a need for those prices.

My friend and I were in town for an Abraxas release at Perennial so we decided to stop by for a couple of hours at Side Project Cellar to check out the place and have some descent beers. We showed up on a Thursday right as the place opened, and there were approximately half a dozen people waiting in line to get in.

We sat at one of the two bar tables in this cozy, small place. There isn't much space available relative to many taprooms I've been to and from what the friendly bartender told us, the place can get pretty packed after work hours and on weekends where people have to wait and line up outside until someone else leaves. Again, not a big place so be prepared to wait.

The place is very clean and has a nice feel to it. Lots of empty SP bottles lining the walls and some of the biggest whales from around the country and the world also have a place behind the bars. The bartender was super friendly and willing to chat you up with any inquiries, beer or food (the place does not serve food and you cannot bring in food, but there many restaurants of all kinds of styles within a very short walking distance). People that were also sitting around us were friendly and willing to talk about good beers. Many were there also for the Abraxas release at Perennial.

Selection is the interesting part. There are A LOT of beers in the cellar and about a dozen or so on draft... BUT, vast majority are not from Side Project. Many were from Goose Island, Oskar Blues and a few others. There was also quite a bit of bourbon and whiskey which you could order at the place, so it wasn't exclusively beer. I would say that from the 100+ items on the beer menu, under 10 were from Side Project. But out of those 10, we were able to get Fuzzy #2 and Pulling Nails #4, so it's not like they had just some garden variety beers. The ones that SP offered for on-site consumption (there were none available for to-go on the day we went) were of very good quality. And if you know anything about SP, they predominately make sours/saisons/farm house ales with a few stouts sprinkled in.

Side Project is a definite must stop if you are in St.Louis area and I will look forward to going back there again.

Surprised that the place was so small. Good parking nearby. Also surprised that it is also a whisky lounge. Staff is polite and attentive that interacts lively with the customers. The vast majority of the beer here is neither Side Project or Perennial beer but guest taps but all of it is sours or saisons. Have to get into the bottle list for any other style. Everything is expensive especially the Side Project bottles but those bottles are worth it.

Cool place on a quiet side street. Slightly odd layout inside -- 2 bars, one beer focused; one liquor focused in a fairly small space. Mostly tall tables & stools with a couple low tables & chairs. Really attentive staff, a couple house taps & bottles with a nice variety of regional and national taps & 2 beer engines. Decent bottle list too round it out.

In town for a wedding with 2 hours to kill between the ceremony and reception... Couldn't think of a better place to spend it than Side Project Cellar. Everything was top notch... Staff, Selection, and overall atmosphere were perfect. DB Derivation and Fuzzy didn't hurt either. Couldn't recommend this place enough. Cheers to all the ladies ready to help out at a moments notice... took the time to help my wife find a drink that catered to her palate. Everything was outstanding!

It is a tiny but cozy spot in an old brick building, one unisex bathroom and not a lot of seating, it must be a nightmare on release days... The staff is very nice and obviously the beer is great, but I was a little underwhelmed by the selection. Quite a lot of the tap list was taken up by guest beers with less than half a dozen side project brews available, along with a couple of bottles. All were good, a couple were really great, but I came wanting to experience side project, not the various other breweries on tap, even if they were carefully chosen. Certainly taking the time to visit if you are in STL is going to be worth while, but while the beer lives up to the hype, the bar itself was not the best or even second best stop we made in the city. Overall I would say it is a bit over rated because people seem to have a hard time separating the place and the beers in their reviewing.

Vibe is world-class, the only point deduction is due to the smll size, loud atmosphere when crowded (which is often), and single bathroom... just one... for everyone.
Quality is the best possible. Period.
Service is excellent except for the awkwardly-shaped bar which is crowded on a good day, but the staff does their best to serve and do well.
Selection is about as good as can be for the size. That being said, it is smallish and $ is on the high end.
Overall an exceptional establishment. Any criticisms were very specific and nit-picky.

Best beers in St. Louis. I live in St. Louis and love to get down here every time I can. Staff and selection is amazing. Cory and Karen are always around and always willing to give you details about the beers. The price for some of their bigger beers may catch people off guard ($30-50/bottle), but all of their beers have been well worth it, especially if you're sharing with a friend of even a stranger. Only thing that is sometimes an issue is the space available. Can get really crowded for tappings of their best beers. Also, no food available.

So, my wife and I visited this place for a nightcap after eating at a fantastic nearby Italian restaurant. I'd read good things about this bar/tasting room, but it really exceeded my expectations. Cozy and intimate, the place is focused almost entirely on beer. There are no televisions, and the music is soft. The selection of Belgian beers is extraordinary, really focused on hard-to-find brews. The tap selection is amazing, and they had a Side Project blend on cask that was unbelievably good. Servers know about all the beers, and the patrons were all serious beer lovers. At first, I thought that the lack of food was a problem, but it isn't. This is a true Belgian Beer lovers dream. I didn't miss the food at all.

Stopped here when they opened after a 5 hour drive to pick up Abraxas. Did not want to leave! It was the anniversary week so about 2 hours in the place was packed, we were lucky enough to grab a spot at the bar. The decor is amazing from the sleek rustic wood finishes to the lighting. The selection is 2nd to none, with a huge list of SP drafts and bottles available, as well as an amazing selection of other beers from tons of brewery's in the cellar. The staff was amazing, we could tell there was a lot of regulars that night and it was nice they treated us like we were one of them, some places that would never happen. A work class place that should be on every craft beer lovers bucket list.

Beer selection is top-notch. Side Project's beers themselves are top-notch. This a bonafide beer destination. Well worth coming very out of your way for. As in, from across the country. The service is great, they have games you can play, beers are served at their correct drinking temperatures, and the bar setup is different and interesting (2 separate 2-sided pyramids, basically). Jimmy John's is down the block, and since I can't get that at home, that's a huge plus for me. Perhaps the most noteworthy thing about Side Project Cellar though is that it is pricey. Especially for being located in the Midwest. It is New York expensive. I paid $40 for a 750ml of Black & Wild. It was one of the best tart beers I've ever had and I knew it was going to pricey coming in, but, at least for me, the prices do prohibit me from trying everything I want to try. The draft prices on the other hand, aren't so bad. Less than typical NY pricing. Would definitely come back.
