A - poured from a 341ml bottle into a pint glass. The color is an opaque dark brown/black with a dissipating beige head.

S - strong coffee and some dark chocolate

T - coffee, with a finish that mixes coffee bean and dark chocolate

M - medium carbonation and liquid lager feel. The finish is sticky at first then becomes dry.

D - This is a very interesting beer. It feels like a lager when you sip, yet it has stout flavors and some stout mouthfeel (escpecially in the finish). Very refreshing.

20oz "Heli-Pint" at the Chopper's Landing resto in the Panorama Mountain Resort.

This beer appears a clear, very dark chestnut brown hue, with two skinny fingers of puffy, bubbly, and somewhat frothy beige head, which leaves a decent paint job of splattered lace around the glass as things slowly drop away.

It smells of lightly roasted, and kind of meaty caramel malt, a soft oily nuttiness, some weak dry cocoa notes, ethereal hints of day-old coffee, and tame ashy, earthy, and leafy hops. The taste is bitter roasted bready caramel malt, weak black coffee, a muddled gritty nuttiness, and mildly acrid leafy and weedy hops.

The carbonation is average, and mostly just straight-up frothy, the body medium-light in weight, and a bit on the thin side, but basically smooth. It finishes just off-dry, the toasty, and still meaty caramel malt persisting.

Overall, this is a generally agreeable schwarzbier, the toasted character is well rendered, and it's quite drinkable, especially with my sore legs and slowly thawing disposition.

A fairly decent offering from OK Spring, a brewery I usually don't pay much attention to.

Black-ruby colour with a coffee-and-cream head. The scent is metal and overly bitter hops. Taste is far better: traces of chocolate and coffee, and combined with sweet malts. The hops are done just right, and provide a decent, low-lever bitterness.

Smooth carbonation, and very enjoyable. One of my favourite OK Spring beers.
