stopped by in the afternoon for a couple beers. in a large building downtown by the ballpark. Long bar, and a variety of indoor and outdoor seating. Nice decor. Long draft and bottle list, good variety of styles, national, import, and local beers. Bartender gave suggestions. Didn't have any food.

We visited this establishment following an afternoon Cardinal's game. It's located one block from the stadium, and is much less expensive than the various bars and eateries in Ballpark Village. The set-up is similar to the other Flying Saucer that we've visited...tall ceilings, plenty of plates on the wall, dark wood paneling, and plenty of space. We didn't have trouble finding a table. The beer list is extensive and the food is typical pub fare. We enjoyed the chili fries. Prompt and friendly service and worth a visit.

My first Flying Saucer experience came not long before I attended my first Cardinals game at Busch Stadium, two first events which were bound to happen because I love beer and baseball, and because I live 1,500 miles away, It doesn't feel cookie cutter like some chain bars out there, and the crowd inside was healthy without packing the house to the gills. I luckily found a few seats at the bar. It feet old-timey with the wood used around and nostalgic-looking writing. A large fridge behind the bar plus too many taps to count ensured that I was in heaven.

Plenty of beers to choose, both from the bottle and on draft. I found bottles from Weltenberger and Westmalle to Duvel and Firestone. The draft list cranked up the volume, and in many cases was the first time I came in contact with the drafts. Beers from Founders, 4 Hands, Modern Brewery, Destihl, Logboat, Tallgrass, Abita, Lagunitas, many served in nonic pints (not lousy shaker pints) and tasting fresh. In addition, it didn't take me too long to get the help of a bartender despite the pre-game crowd.

So, when's Flying Saucer coming to California? Hopefully it doesn't take an anal probe victim to make it happen.

I was in St Louis for work and luckily the dates lined-up so I could take in a Cards game with my customers. I did a quick look at Beerfly and this seemed to be the best option near Busch.

This is a pretty cool space. It has a long bar and dining room, there is another large room in the back and they have a covered beer garden facing the stadium. I’m not sure who decorates the Saucers, but I knew I was in one as soon as I walked through the door. I love the super high ceilings and all the old wooden beams and stuff. Bathrooms were another story, they seemed to experiencing a flood with water coming from the ceiling and through the heating ductwork. Not sure if the place above them had broken pipes or if the AC install was faulty. Let’s hope they get that fixed.

As expected they offered a large beer list with a nice emphasis on local draft options. My beers were well taken care of and served in the correct glasses.

The chain has upped their food options and I think the quality is better than before, so no complaints there. I was with a party of 6 and everyone liked their food and beer choices.

Service was a real miss. I’m not sure if they didn’t staff correctly on a game night or if our server was just that bad. We went long stretches waiting to order both food and beer and then at least twice had them bring us a wrong beer. She was nice enough so that counts for a little I guess. To make it worse, all the tables around us were getting their food and beer while we couldn’t even get our order in.

I would have no problem coming back. Next time I would most likely sit at the bar unless I was with another group that needed a table.

Bonus, Cubs won 12 to 3!

What can I say, probably one of the best beer bars in St. Louis. This one had an awesome vibe, was a block from the front gate at Busch Stadium, had a small food menu but everything was deliciously crafted, a huge beer list, and some of the friendliest and most knowledgeable staff I have ever seen. Our waitress even got me a little liquored up with a steady line of free samples while I drank my beers. Awesome stuff.

For a chain place, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable, the bar food is solid without being spectacular (but perfect after a trip at the baseball or hockey) and the selection of beer is usually around the very good mark.

The tap takeovers they do occasionally are fantastic though. Had some much sought after beers at this venue on a few occasions.

The location is pretty convenient too, and I have never had a drama getting a seat, even before an event. A more than acceptable option if it's too much pf a mission to get to one of the many microbreweries around St Louis.

If you're looking for a bar that has craft beer this is a damn good place to go. They have 40+ taps to choose from as well as an extensive bottle list. They have a great variety of MO craft beer so you will definitely get a taste of the local craft beer scene. In addition, they sometimes have rare bottles and taps available if you catch them on the right night or after a release (check the calendar for all of the special events that are going on during the month). Flying Saucer knows how to kill kegs with all of the promotional events they host and the UFO club (members who drink 200 beers get a plate on the wall), it's understandable why this chain is so popular. The food is OK, mostly burgers and pizza and a lot of it is satisfying. I really enjoy the Flying Saucer on quieter nights and I think they have a great line-up of craft beers and plenty of fun events throughout the month. However, lower your expectations or avoid the place if it is busy.
