Style: American Pale Ale (APA)

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.20%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Like traditional pale ales, Tankhouse Ale has a deep copper-red colour. We use five different malts to produce a complex malty texture. The most dominant character of our Pale Ale is the hop. The spicy Cascades is used to give an assertive hop flavour, aroma and bitterness to our ale. The result is a satisfying and complex-tasting beer. Our brewmaster developed this recipe 20 years ago and it has remained his favorite drink of choice.

A go to for me if it's on tap.

Had from the tap while sitting outside this craft brewery in Toronto's Distillery District just east of the Central Business District. An enjoyable experience as a tourist (from the Sister City of Chicago) and this is a respectable ale.

Good Looking with a nice cooper whose sparkle is enhanced by the late afternoon sun. Smells mostly of malts and the yeast works up some hard fruits, like apple. The hops don't really come into play until mid-palate which is how a malt-head like me tends to appreciate hops. However, they did stay a little too long... like the very end. So it put an every so slight bitterness on a good experience.

With eight brewpubs, Mill Street seemingly is as much a successful restauranteur as a craft brewer. So, I'd like to sample more of their brews to see their culinary pairings. For the Tankhouse Pale would pair well with many foods.

Pours with a copper coloured body and rather frothy parchment coloured head that settles rather quickly to 1-2mm of creamy foam. Aroma: Toast, caramel, faintest hint of hops. Taste: Toasty fairly rich caramaly malt balanced to a clean noble hop bitterness. Medium bodied and very drinkable.

The beer pours a thick off-white head that settles after a few moments, leaving impressive glass lacing that continues as the beverage is enjoyed.

The beer itself is brown to copper coloured.

The smell is a mix of hops, nicely toasted malts, and the faintest hint of caramel.

The aroma attributes transfer to the taste in every way. The hop bitterness is so nicely balanced with the malt.

The beer is medium bodied, while the finish is a bit wet and smooth.

I really enjoy this beer and can’t say enough good things about it. If you like this style give it a try. Personally, it’s my favourite from Mill Street Brewery.

A very pretty copper pale ale with a moderate head and lacing, tasty malts, only mild hops, smooth mouthfeel. Goes down much too quickly!

I got a bottle of this from a mixed pack that I bought whilst in Hamilton for my son's hockey tournament. It poured a clear copper with white head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent is faint bitter hop. The taste is nicely balanced and easy to drink. There was a floral spice present. The Mouthfeel is lighter with good carbonation. Overall it's ok certainly worth a try.

This was disappointing given the hype. Aroma hints of smoky roasted chocolate. Starts crisp but finish turns a bit hazy. Lingers and then hard to drink multiple. Nice dark amber colour and decent head.
