355 ml bottle poured into a mason jar mug. An odd pink-bronze color with two fingers of creamy off-white foam on top. The head leaves a nice sheet of lacing on the glass. Interesting idea for a hybrid of styles ... Let's see how it falls out in practice.

Aroma is curious ... Some sweet toffee malts underneath pie cherries, coconut, fruit leather, a whiff of chocolate even. Does have a slight Belgian funkiness about it. Taste also features an unmistakable cherry chocolate bar vibe. Sweet cherry juice initially but fortunately much of this recedes into the background, in favor of sweet roasted malts (almost almond-like) and low key Belgian yeasty spice. Not much about this suggests an IPA. Things take yet another turn about three-quarters though, degenerating in a rank grainy sourness.

Mouthfeel is a little off as well ... Rather syrupy and flat. Lacks any real snap or crispness. Finish is where one finally notices some hop resins, underneath sour cherry juice and grain husks.

This one took an unfortunate turn after an engaging start. Needs more obvious hop character, more carbonation, less sour fruit, and perhaps more Belgian phenolics.

Alright but the cherry taste is overpowering and becomes a bit sickening as you get into it. Not very well balanced.

Pours a semi-opaque copper leaning towards the red end of the spectrum. Considerable carbonation. Aromas are bang on cherry macaroons, that is to say coconut, almonds and cherries. Tastes are identical. Like dessert in a glass. Overall, it’s a tad sweet for most beer drinkers, but I am thoroughly enjoying the uniqueness of this offering from Mill St.

Appearance: It has a nice deep orangy/amber color to it. It has a nice light beige head that dies down moderately and leaves some lacing.

Smell: The aromas definitely give out hints of bread, grainy malts, light Belgian yeast and faint notes of cherries.

Taste: Like the aromas, it has a some breadiness, grainy malts, faint Belgian yeast and slightly tart cherries.

Mouthfeel: It has a low carbonation with a nice overall balance and feel.

Drinkability: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied by decent flavors and aromas.

355 ml bottle served cold into a glass. Purchased as part of the seasonal sampler which went for about $13.50. So about $2.25 for the bottle. I like Belgian IPAs but not sure how it will mix with cherry. Let us see...

Appearance - clear and mahogany coloured capped with a finger and a half of thick off white foam. Very little in the way of visible carbonation. Nice retention time on the head and some lacing grips the glass nicely.

Smell - some Belgian funkiness and a thick layer of fresh bread rush up to meet the nostrils. There's also a sour and overripe fruit nestled in there that's unusual but makes sense given this is a cherry IPA.

Taste - tons of sweet cherry starts off then gradually fades away before a slight taste of cherry chocolate cake appears on the tongue. Hard to pick up anything else. It's certainly different although as far as a Belgian IPA goes this is well... Different.

Mouthfeel - flat and a sticky feeling in the mouth, not my cup of tea as far as IPAs go. This is this biggest letdown as the whole feel is really limp.

Overall - this isn't terrible just really disappointing and not my cup of tea. I appreciate the creativity and what this could have become, but it's too sweet and really flat, the hops and bitterness just seem to be missing.

341ml Bottle from the Ottawa LCBO for $2 or so

Appearance - Copper colour with a large size white coloured head. There is an average amount of carbonation showing and there is some faint lacing. The head lasted for around 4-5 minutes before it was gone.

Smell - Cherries, malts, grains, coconut?

Taste & Mouth - There is a average amount of carbonation and I can taste cherries, breads/grains, and some malts. There is also some caramel, and some coconut?

Overall - What the.. nothing like a belgian IPA. It's like a glass of a coconut cherry dessert. It's okay I guess.. a little cloying.. and not what I was expecting. I wouldn't drink this again.

Poured from the bottle into a tulip glass.

Dark orange with a nice rusty red body color. Some faint lines of rising carbonation on the sides in a tan color, matching with an off tan creamy vanilla colored three finger head. Slowly settles to a single thin puck.

Very subtle nose and subdued but quite good. Hints of very faint cherry fruit if a little artificial, soft bread and cake like sweetness aromas. A bit of vanilla and sucrose, and some caramel. Has dessert written all over it and smells sort of like black forest cake minus the chocolate.

Palate comes very surprising but not for the reasons I am thinking. Hints of the good flavors on the nose but bigger and builds, only to disappear in a flash. Faint cherry aromatics and more of a powdery fruit flavor. Hints of cake dough. Not much hinting yeast and sweet Belgian like sucrose character to this. Subtle flavors come out, but just barely.

Where's the hop component to this, or more so the Belgian IPA character? Comes off as more of a fruit beer with some dough kick. Still pretty much ok, but not what I was expecting.
