BEER INFO

Brewed by:

Style: German Pilsener

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 4.80%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
Our organic continental lager has a deep golden hue, a giant rocky white head with a malty sweet nose. The first taste is sweet but leads quickly to a dry hoppy bitter finish. In the German style, Mill Street Pilsner finishes dry and is an excellent accompaniment to food or an excellent thirst quencher on its own.

Pint at the Ottawa location. From notes.

A - Poured golden, bright, very mild carbonation. One finger of white head with ok lace and a half finger of retention.

S - Mild noble hop, grainy.

T - Noble hop, grain, cereal, the noble hop and grainy notes blend well but the grain wins out a bit.

M - Nice carbonation, medium body, crisp with a slight hoppy finish.

O/D - A nice crisp pils. Not great and needs more of that wonderful noble hop punch, but it's good.

Bottle from the brewpub store, unidentifiable code printed on the bottle neck. 355ml bottle into a tulip.

Hazy golden brown, with a couple fingers of a solid white cap. Sheets of lace but only modest retention. Nose is full of Noble hops, a light sweetness. Generally herbal and a hint of spice, but has a stinky quality that I always seem to associate with the hops. A bit of grass and floral forest. Taste is well hopped and pleasantly, more Noble character with some nice fruity notes. A bit of lemon rind and maybe even a tropical hint in there even. Some malt sweetness, lightly sugary in quality. Bitter finish, but of moderate length and encouraging of the next sip. Body is on the lighter side of medium, and carbonation is just about medium as well - complements the body well. One of the better Mill Street offerings I think, quite enjoyable and certainly sessionable. Would've been nicer to have a greater access to this this past summer.

pours a clear light golden colour with a small amount of head - leaves a little bit of lacing that also faded quickly.

smell was malty, grainy and also had a sweetness to it.

taste was similar - malty, grainy. good carbonation and drinkability. not an overly interesting pilsner, but okay enough.

355 mL undated bottle poured into pokal. From seasonal six-pack available at NSLC.

Pours a surprisingly orange body with a fizzy white head that is gone in the blink of an eye. Lots of carbonation visible in the clarity.

Earthy noble hop nose with grainy sweet malt.

Sweet honey biscuit tasted first with underlying floral and earthy bitterness that comes out more near the finish.

Medium light body, nicely mild carbonation and a dry clean finish.

Decent beer, refreshing and flavorful, though there are better options in the style.

355ml bottle poured into a 16oz pint glass.

A - Just under a finger-and-a-half of bubbly white head that fizzles down quickly. Darker than expected hue, as it's a deep golden-orange. Little head retention, with minimal lacing.

S - Light malt and a pleasant leafy hop presence. Slightly underwhelming.

T - Really malty on the first sip. Lots of floral sweetness and light malt, with a light hop finish. Sweet caramel and biscuit. Finishes with a grassy, floral hop, but the bitterness is really subdued. Overall, really sweet and grassy, with a light hop presence. Strong malt presence is exaggerated as it warms. Enjoyable.

M - Light carbonation, with a medium bodied feel. Compliments the flavor well.

D - I've only tried one other Czech Pilsener (Paddock Wood's Czech Mate) and this definitely didn't pack the same hoppy punch that one did. That being said, this is still a really enjoyable and easy-drinking pilsener worth drinking again.

fizzy yellow lots of carbonation. quickly dissipating head.
some interesting aromas, something sweet underlying, honey, vanilla.

crisp medium dry with very little flavor or taste all around. some more of the sweetness in the aftertaste. quite nice.

beer is thirst quenching and drinkable but offers very little to be excited about. some sips are quite watery and tasteless.

not bad but nothing interesting here whatsoever.
