Style: Irish Dry Stout

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 4.20%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
We produce a traditional styled Irish Stout that is served using beer gas to produce that familiar creamy pore. This is the same system that draft Guinness uses. Our black stout has a roasted malt flavour and a hint of toasted walnuts and chocolate in the finish. Select imported hops are used to dry out the finish of this ale.

Surprisingly balanced session able stout. Not sure if unpasteurized locally -- it if it is, we have a "Guinness in Dublin" style bragging rite thing.

I've been thoroughly disappointed with many Mill Street beers throughout the years, it is very rare that I've ever been impressed by one, well, Cobblestone Stout is a ridiculously good dry stout. Guinness will always be in my heart as the best, and my favorite beer (go ahead beer geeks, laugh away!), this is the next best thing though.

A nitro stout served in a can -- got to love it! Fun to pour and holds its body well in the glass. Roasted notes are prominent with a light toffee scent. Overall, a decent dry stout that I would happily drink again.

Not quite a guinness by any means. Too much flake and a bit watered down. It also had a weird buttery taste that didnt suit my palate. Id drink again if given to me, but probably wouldnt buy again.

Pours from the tallboy can a pitch black colour, almost opaque, capped by quite a bit of cappuccino-coloured oatmeal-y looking foam. Decent lacing.

Smell is creamy, vanilla, coffee, faint dark chocolate. Slight bitter, vegetal hopping. Roasted malt, faint hints of copper. Taste is mild, light creamy coffee, faint chocolate and vanilla--but I'm actually a bit surprised by how much the hopping comes through here--just a nice touch of balancing bitter greens, pine, and ever-so-slight citrus.

Balanced sweet-then-dry profile. Typical nitro body--silky smooth, light carbonation, and a light, Guinness-like body.

It's not a particularly in-your-face beer--it's akin to a sort of fresh, domestic, less bogwatery kind of Guinness. But it is quite enjoyable, and is really helped the silkiness of the nitro carbonation. A tasty, sessionable stout that actually draws attention to its hopping more than you'd expect for the style.

Black pour. Slight tan head, lacy.
Vanilla, chocolate with some hint of coffee aroma.
Tastes much the same with a bunch of smoke.
Mouth feel is pretty much expected of a stout. A little light for my palate.
Overall, a very nice stout.

One of my favorite Guinness alternatives. It looks great in a glass and goes down smooth. I love the fact that I can pick up a 473 mL can of Cobblestone for a very reasonable price.

I usually try to support local micros, but was glad to try this stout from YYZ (TO). The hint of toasted walnuts and chocolaty finish were superb. A great balance, and I'm surprised the BA sccore was not higher. Step aside Guiness ... oh, except that I can get Guiness almost anywhere.
