Our porter is rich and robust, dark brown in colour with a dark roasted coffee nose, imparting an intense coffee flavour with notes of chocolate. Made with beans supplied by the Distillery District’s Balzac's Coffee, this porter offers a rich, full and unique flavour. Currently, there are no other coffee-flavoured beers in the Ontario market.

This is the last of my seasonal mixed six pack from Mill Street, another good beer that I probably wouldn't have bought to review otherwise, but one I'm glad to try again after such a long absence.
Pours a deep dark black with a fantastically impressive, lumpy tan head that dies down to a nice film, with some spotty lace forming as time goes on.
Smells bright, with nice dry, black coffee grinds. Some subtle sweet smells in there, but mostly coffee and roasted malt.
Nice porter flavors with, I have to say, just about the perfect about of coffee. Good roasted malt, some juicy raisin sweetness with a soft touch of bitterness for balance.
The mouthfeel is a little thinner than I would prefer but yet it has a nice creaminess if you let it linger in your mouth.
This is a very satisfying porter that goes down easy. Ridiculously drinkable.
This beer is even further proof that Mill Street is a great brewery and Ontario is lucky to have them.

Pours a deep black body with half a finger of beige head that dissipates into a lacing film. Aromas of strong coffee are coupled with dark chocolate on a fairly intense nose, which also shows off some very faint dark fruit. On the palate, the beer is quite velvety in texture, with a slightly smoky coffee flavor with that same dark chocolate tone weaving in and out, fading into a finish of dark roast coffee and an almost ashy smoke flavor. It has a very filling mouthfeel without going overboard with alcohol or intensity, with a carbonation that is maybe just a tad too much for me. Overall this is quite a good beer, I think I would buy it if it came in single packs in my neck of the woods.

Almost undetectable coffee aroma, flavor matches. Terribly thin. Furthermore there is a slight off flavor i cannot put my finger on. Overall a boring beer

341 ml bottle picked up out of the singles bin at the LCBO. About $2.25 CDN for the bottle. Served at cellar temperature into a pint glass.
Appearance - dark cola brown coloured beer is poured with a half finger of sticky but quickly receding white head. Opaque and thick looking, with minimal if any lacing left around the edge of the glass.
Smell - plenty of coffee but also a sweet caramel notion and some vanilla. More like a latte then full blown espresso.
Taste - similar to the nose, at first with traces of caramel and vanilla cutting through the coffee base. Finishes with some acidity and with coffee grounds in mind, closer to the espresso bean rather than the latte.
Mouthfeel - smooth and creamy with a tingly sensation left on the tongue. A bit chewy but not too thick. Good feel for a beer of this style.
Overall - I can't say that Mill Street Coffee Porter exceeded my expectations, but it didn't fall short either, delivering a unique coffee flavor that leans a little closer to the dark roast and pungent coffees of Europe rather than a muddled latte. Worth a shot.
