Been hearing a lot about this place. Let's see how they stack up!

L - pours a greenish yellow coming out of the can. Settles into a nice peachy orange haze. Slight lacing upon a glass swirl. Looks good.

S - green mango and lemon up front. Rosy and floral. Hint of coriander and creamy orange. Maybe some pineapple in there.

T - woof, complex. There are a lot of sensations in here. Initial taste is juice with an incredibly smooth, subtle, muted orange that feels taught with energy. Restrained. Vanilla and melon. Coming through in the second act is some spicy pine, but not in your typical West Coast hoppy pininess. It's crisp, but also mellow. Underripe fruit tangos on the tongue with their rind counterparts. Leans toward the greener side of things without the insufferable bitterness. Papaya. There's a reason why we wait for fruit to ripen. This leaves the beer fresh and bright. There is a sweet honey/bubblegum right before the finish that quickly dissipates as the mealy bitterness takes over and the curtain comes down.

F - one of the best aspects of this beer. Smooth is an understatement. It's creamy as shit without being cloying. There are no stray bubbles, just a compact, tightly-wound silkiness.

O - impressed. The beer feels like it's going to explode with flavor any minute, but it remains restrained and tame. This amplifies the individual flavors in a subtle way and actually works for this beer. Shows a mastery over the beer, not the other way around.

All you can say about this beer is damn that is an amazing DIPA! "The Chosen One" is a good name for it. I still taste the hops in my mouth a half hour after drinking it. I actually caught a buzz from the one beer. It was so smooth, fluffy soft and drinkable the 8.5% abv is never even noticed. It's a little sweet, very balanced with hoppy, citrusy goodness. I would put it against any TH or Trillium Beer. Definitely one of the best if not "the" best DIPA I've ever had. I think I need to take a beercation to Rhode Island!

After trying four beers so far from TB, I loved two and kinda hated the other two, so there was a lot at stake when I cracked this one open.

It pours a completely opaque tannish orange with a few fingers of foamy off-white head that leaves rings of filmy lacing.

The nose has subtle notes of stone fruit and mango with lots of resinous hop notes.

The taste starts with a big orange juice profile that opens up into massive ripe peach notes that really steal the show. There is a touch of pine and an ample biscuity malt presence before finishing with a somewhat dank hop bite that lingers for a moment.

Mouthfeel is soft and creamy. Booziness is quite low for the ABV. Bitterness is low to medium.

Phew! Tilted Barn lives! After my unpleasant experiences with Cactus and Milo's Phoenix, I was apprehensive about this one. I was on the verge of writing this brewery off until further notice, but The Chosen One delivers. Quite possibly the best TB has to offer, but I think I might still prefer Peeptoad.

Very satisfying overall though. A big hoppy creamy NEIPA that really hits the spot.

For my palate, this is one of those rare beers that just wows you into drinking more than you probably should. Cloudy; excellent head retention; lacing for days. The nose is a beautiful mix of tropical and herbaceous; the taste follow suits. I get a ton of Galaxy hops. The feel is prickly; chewy; tongue-smacking. I didn't go into great depth with this one, but I'll say this, if you've ever had Tree House Green, which I love (disclaimer), this is Green done better. It also features that so-called Tree House bubblegum element that so many people rave about. I'm not even kidding. This beer is LARRRGE.

750ml swingtop growler filled on 12/30/2015 and served in a tulip. Pours a dull orange with a hazy clarity and a tight, quarter inch, bright white head. Head eventually dissipates towards the shoulders leaving a soapy slick. Spots and swaths of lacing are revealed during the tasting. Big juicy nose - orange, pith and a hint of stone fruit. Taste consistent with nose with the addition of mango and a light herbal/medicinal bitterness at the back. Mouthfeel is light-medium in body (but closer to light) with a pleasant, even carbonation and a light acidity. Overall, a very good DIPA with lots of tropical fruit notes. Malt bill comes off a little bit thin for the style; however, it's quite drinkable with a well-hidden abv. This beer would be great in cans.

From a 16oz can, dated 08/07/19. Served in a tulip.

Pours a thoroughly opaque, murky, burnt pear colour with minimal head formation and zippo retention, just a feeble, fizzy little collar. Even by NEDIPA standards, this is an unattractive beverage.

But the nose, ooh, that smell - doughy bread roll and fruit basket-sitting-out-in-the-sun. Mildly sweet, yeasty and fruity as the dickens.

Taste is somewhat in accord with the nose but grainy, harsh and hot. There is the yeasty bread roll and fruitiness of the apricot, melon rind and fermenting grape sort but with pronounced booziness of the isopropyl alcohol sort.

Feel starts juicy but dries out quickly, sort of like a high-octane dry reisling. No more than medium bodied with low carbonation.

Overall, a relatively decent NEDIPA. I’ve waited a long time for my first Tilted Barn but maybe I should have started with something smaller? Still, at 8.5%, it sure as hell gets the job done.

It looks like a glass of REALLY pulpy orange juice with a dollop of tan foam slathered on top, similar to many other beers in this style. The nose is the obligatory citrus bomb, with spicy nectarines and passion fruit - but do I also detect some malt?

The taste says I do! There’s piles of citrus flavors, but there’s a noticeable malt component as well, which is really nice - that gives this more body than many offerings of this style. Just a pleasure to drink.
