This was yet another beer from Tilted Barn that I traded for, as the date on the label read 12/5/17. Like their other offerings that I've had, this one was smooth, tasty, and easily enjoyable with a well-hidden alcoholic presence. It was easy to see how this was rated so high for it's style, given that it didn't last in my pint glass for long!

As with the other offerings, this beer was a muted goldenrod with plenty of haze to it. A full, fluffy head topped this off and the lacing left behind was quite extensive as well. Not the strongest of aromas but what was present was a wonderful array of fruit flavors - blueberry, white grape, dank melon, and earthy, tropical fruit. Deep pineapple, floral spice, passion fruit, and dare I say - prickly cactus - could be found here along with an underlying sweetness and earthy undertone that tied everything in together. Very complex on the palate but smooth in consistency at the same time, with the end result being a fun beer that really took a hold on me once it fully warmed up!

Not a lot of booze here but it could be felt a bit by the time I finished this off, along with it's yeast and a subtle pine that made this feel fresh throughout. Once again, Tilted Barn has concocted a brew that came out of nowhere and left a nice impression on me, down to the lively carbonation and full body with lack of discernible malt. So glad I traded for this!

Poured from can purchased at the brewery on 5/26/18. Hits the glass as a cloudy peach puree with a small white head that quickly dissipates, but leaves plenty of lasting lacing.

The aroma comes on strongly with balanced notes of fresh grass, musty tree bark, and peach, which seems to almost ripen in the glass as it sits. There's some apricot as well as a splash of fresh orange juice to add a bright, tropical flair.

A nice balance of juicy tropical fruit and dank earthiness in the flavor. The fruit begins to ripen, leaving plenty of peach , apricot, orange, and soft grapefruit alongside wet hops and complex vegetal tones.

The feel on this is an almost unbelievable mixture of juicy and dank while remaining smooth and creamy.

Such a great balance in this beer, and the structure of it all is truly top-notch. So many great flavors, none too overpowering or out of place, and making this just a ridiculously drinkable DIPA.

Sampling a cold 16 oz can poured into my snifter. The beer pours a cloudy orange color with fluffy bleached white head of 2 cm foaming up on the surface.
The aroma on this beer is some citrus and pineapple notes mixed together with just a bit of biscuity yeast mixed in.
The first sip reveals a velvety smooth textured beer and very fine rolling carbonation. Pretty easy physical traits on this beer.
Flavor is pretty sweet up front with lots of pineapple and orange notes. I also get a little mango and some caramel dropped in. the finish moves to a bit of bitey bitterness with a pine sap character. Wasnt expecting the bite on the finish, its much more classic DIPA than NEIPA. I like it.
I dont get any hint of the booze on this beer and find the fruity sweetness to be enjoyable on the front and the drying out bitterness on the finish also quite fun. A well crafted and mixture of IPA character.
Tilted Barn was a win with the beers Ive had from there. I think it is time to go back!

This beer is about as good as it gets for hazy NEIPA juice bombs. Strong on the pineapple flavor. Awesome creamy mouthfeel. Just gets better as it warms up. LOVE this beer.

Pours a hazy dark orange with a two finger head. Smells of tropical hops, earthy rain, and stone. Taste is sweet citrus, caramel, pineapple, into pungent bitterness. Doesn't taste much like a DIPA, abv is well disguised, but heirs on the sweet side and steers away a bit from the bitterness. Tropical - yes, but almost a bit more sweetness than necessary. Good, not great.

Look: Yellow, hazy, turbid with 2 inch head.
Smell: Candy, grapes, watermelon, and orange rind.
Taste: Passionfruit, grapes, and candy.
Mouthfeel: Full and Complex.
Overall: A very impressive IPA from Tilted Barn. I did not expect this beer to be that good.

Cactus pours an opaque orange with an amber hue. Nose features orange rind, a bit of grapefruit, and potting soil.

The taste is an absolute mess. It's dominated by a mega spicy orange character that's accompanied by raisins and more dirt. Cactus is abrasively bitter and boozy as hell for the ABV.

After originally having huge expectations for this brewery, this make two beers in a row from them that I could barely finish. Maybe they're having trouble with their new equipment. Maybe we gave them too much credit out of the gates.

Full flavored. Orange rind, Grapefruit pith, melon, papaya and mango. Medium, smooth feel. Tiny carb bubbles, creamy. Honey biscuit malt profile. Nicely balanced. Real good. Probably a step below Tree House, but in line with Trill. These guys can brew.

L - pours a dark sunset orange. Hazy glow in the light. Looks like a fire rests deep within the center of the glass.

S - earthy lime zest. Toasted spicy grapefruit and orange peel. A faint herbal juiciness; maybe some melon, mango, and mint.

T - lot of different parts to this beer. Initial wave of fresh fruit. Peach, mango, and, yes, prickly pear, which is a sweet, but grassy flavor. Kinda like dragonfruit. In the middle, we're hit with sugar. Oozing sweetness, glazed fruit. The last half leaves more cactii and a strong herbal bitterness. It's strange: the fruit flavors are green, yet the stickiness suggests ripeness. Finishes both syrupy and crisp.

F - Tilted Barn always kills it in the feel department. This one's a DIPA, so we get a bit more heft, but it's as creamy and floofy as ever. Swishing between the teeth is a pillowy dream.

O - one of TB's sweeter and juicier offerings, yet still holding dear that beautiful, fresh farm earthiness and grains. Feels so... alive and inspired. Art.

This beer is on the level with some of the best NEIPAs. It's juicy, soft and way too drinkable at 8%. It's also very well executed and doesn't have some of the unpolished off flavors a lot of beers in this style have. This brewery is on fire right now and the hype will only continue to grow.

This is an amazing beer! I've just got back from a trip to VT and both Heady Topper and Sip of Sunshine are in the fridge and yet I'm running out of this beer a lot faster than those other two. The color is a deep rich yellow with a touch of orange to it, even when held up to direct light it is not transparent. The smell is wonderful, rich and hoppy yet fruity, very refreshing. The taste is why I keep going back to it, it's easily hoppy enough to compare with other double IPA's but it is amazingly drinkable. Chugging this beer would be a shame but it's drinkable enough where you could if you really wanted to, very smooth and soft on the palate. I can't say enough good things about this one. My only complaint is that Tilted Barn hasn't grown large enough for me to get this one locally just yet. They will.

An inviting turbid golden yellow color with a thick and long-lasting foamy white head. Great lacing in the glass. Modest tropical fruit aromas on the nose. Huge fruity flavors - berries, mango, orange, tangerine, with a hint of herbal notes. The feel is the star here - pillowy soft with a silky journey across my palate. Finishes nice and dry with a bit of bready malt. A slight heat but the ABV is well-hidden. Outstanding!

This an an excellent beer! Great representation of the NEIPA style with plenty of tropical fruit action to go around. Compares quite favorably to the likes of the bigger guys in the area. Other Half can be referenced in particular since the flavor profile of Cactus is quite similar to several of the brews i've had from the NYC beer makers.

750ml flip top growler filled on 1/20/17 and served in a Spiegelau IPA glass. Pours a dull burnished orange with slight haze to the clarity and a frothy, half inch, bright white head. Light tropical fruit notes in the nose - guava, passionfruit and a light earthy/herbal quality towards the back. Taste follows nose; however, there's also a hint of bubblegum in the flavor profile. Mouthfeel is light-medium in body (closer to light) with a soft, even carbonation. Overall, fairly tasty but a bit muddled.
