Great beer in this style. Hits all the notes of what you want and expect in a NEIPA. High ABV, which isn't unusual but keep in mind as this is not a sessionable brew at all.

Pours a milky orange hue (color and clarity) with a tight band around the shoulders. Nose expresses melon, mango and pith. Taste is herbal/medicinal, almost to the point of being minty. Fruit is overshadowed and way in the background. A green quality lingers between quaffs. Mouthfeel is light-medium in body with a creamy texture and a carbonation shy of assertive. Overall, a very good NEIPA; however, the herbal quality is a little too aggressive for me.

Murky, turbid, golden yellow.

Citrus and pine aroma and taste. Huge bodied, smooth when chilled, then some hoppy burn by the last couple sips. Nothing jarring or alarming though.

Beer is certainly a treat

Drank from a 1 pint can purchased at Tilted Barn Brewery, Exeter, RI
07/03/19
Served in a tulip

The beer poured a milky, pale orange hue and was topped a super tight and creamy, near finger-tall, bone white crown that fell to a frothy collar. A few odd shaped patches of lacing stuck along the glass.

The nose was a very apricot forward. Ripe, freshly picked apricots came to mind. Some juicy peach too. Melon notes were also apparent. Fairly sweet with a hint of booziness. There was an interesting yeasty, phenolic, Hefeweizen-like quality as well that came and went in waves.

Loads of peach and apricot in the flavor profile too. Fruity and sweet up front. Tangy clementine notes appeared next. Pineapple came through strong in the center. Pithy white grapefruit notes appeared on the back end and crescendoed in the finish. A piney, resiny bitterness lingered after the swallow. The bitterness was definitely more intense than what one might find today in most New England-style IPAs.

The mouthfeel was full bodied for the style. Creamy, slick and smooth on the palate. The liquid contained an ultra fine, fairly subtle effervescence. This was a bit lacking in zippiness perhaps but solid nonetheless.

When I first tried this beer on tap, it was really enjoyable but quite raw, and my week old can was also a bit rough around the edges. This ten day old can, however, seemed to have lost a bit of spring in its step. Though a solid beer, I actually preferred the balance and drinkability of Violet to this.
