330 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 1/7/2017. Pours slightly hazy pinkish orange color with a 1-2 finger foamy light pink head with decent retention, that reduces to a ring of lace pretty quickly. Minimal lacing on the glass. Aromas of big tart/sour raspberry, strawberry, fruit seeds, lemon, lime, green apple, white grape, wheat, cracker, hay, light lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/acidic yeast, raspberries, and light-moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big tart/sour raspberry, strawberry, fruit seeds, lemon, lime, green apple, white grape, wheat, cracker, hay, light lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Moderate fruity/lactic tartness and light tannic fruit spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of tart raspberry, strawberry, fruit seeds, lemon, lime, green apple, white grape, wheat, cracker, hay, light lacto funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, raspberries, and light-moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/tartness balance, and zero puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and light body; with a very smooth, crisp, dry, moderately acidic, and slightly tannic/grainy balanced mouthfeel that is awesome. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.4%. Overall this is an excellent fruited Berliner weisse. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, raspberries, and light-moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with the balanced acidity and high carbonation. A really enjoyable offering.

(330 ml bottle, best before 191110, ALK 4.7 % ABV; purchased single off shelf at State Line this past week... decanted into my Sapwood stemless wine glass)

L: clear, champagne gold liquid with tinges of red highlights; managed a two-finger head, cauliflowered in contour... it does maintain a messy collar, but no lace... 'Ich Bin Ein Berliner' is on the label of all of their Berliner Weisse brands, the name of the beer is at the bottom (see their 'Passionista')

S: surprisingly bold, vibrant raspberry up front, with the dimension of fresh fruit... yeasty, doughy overtones later emerge

T: sort of a wheaty exterior to its light, dry malt base... the lactic tartness swells in the finish, but never bites with intensity... fragrant, floral raspberry hums in the aftertaste, while the tartness eventually pushes ahead of the fruit clarity... hints of acetone, later nutty yeast

F: softly silky texture, moderate lactic bite... long finish... dry at the back, tangy tart sting front of palate; parched pull of the taste buds... overall, does beg for a bit more carbonation, lift

O: I hope I'm wrong thinking the bb date is 19 Nov 2010... this beer tasted relatively fresh... delightfully delicious, wonderfully dry; quite impressed (2265)

Poured from 11.2-ounce can into a tulip glass. Slightly hazy light pinkish-purple (?) color, with a fizzy white head that disappeared in short order. Big aromas and flavors of raspberry, no surprise there. A little light malt, a little yeasty funk, big hit of tartness on the palate. There also seems to be a fair amount of salinity, which makes this lip-smackingly delicious. (YMMV on both counts.) This had a fair amount of age on it when I bought it, but it seems to have held up nicely.

Poured from the bottle into a wheat ale glass.

Pink and very large sudsy head out of the bottle, managing a fistfull with a very quick dissolve. No collar or presence after a bit, then a simple body of pink grapefruit to blood orange color makes an appearance. Fine carbonation, adding bottom of the bottle makes it classic opaque.

Woah, this is a great fruity nose. Excellent juicy raspberry notes, with light touches of almost salt water taffy like sweetness. Excellent aromatics, touches of chewy malt, maybe a faint hint of lacto sourness but just a great full rich fruit forward quality.

This beer on the palate does not mess around. Big tangy sourness and a good straight pucker. Brings excellent juiced lemon, and tart fruit right up to the front. Light bodied, with less of a wheat density than anticipated, a bit of light finish but the flavors still transpire.

A little light on the body than I would care for, but an excellent punching berliner flavor. Very well done.

Largely true to style. This raspberry Berliner weiss is refreshing and it makes me pucker.
Looks more like rose'... except for a few foams that subside.
Smells like sour and wheat combined.
Tastes like sour... but it takes at least three sips before it grows on me and the sweet can counter the sour.
Feel is what it is... a thin beer for a hot day.
Originally, I was going to try this with dinner. But after one sip, I remembered and knew it would be an aperitif only. Decent at that. But I saved some for dessert. And the beer was even more sour than the rhubarb pie.

As for the beer's play on Kennedy's Cold War speech with the line that we are all Berliners if we are free people.... As inspiring as that speech was at that moment in history, we need to reinterpret what that means for now. Best to save those comments for a different forum. But names for beers should try to have subtle meanings.

Hazy pinkish-orange color with no head. Aroma is intense on the lactic, sour notes but also quite fruity with nice raspberry and strawberry notes. Taste starts sour and fruity with a light pickle note, some rose petals on the finish. Light, dry body, high effervescence. Overall it's a nice, refreshing and fruity berliner.

Light red/pink color with sludgy sediment

Aroma of raspberry seeds, yeast, limestone, and salt

Plenty of pucker factor with earthy lime and raspberry faintly underneath, some delicious yeast faintly trailing

Feel is buzzing with carbonation and chalky at the finish

A nice Berliner but could use work

Pours the most lovely dark pink, burgund red color, with a fizzy, bubbly small head.

Smells of sun ripened raspberries, coated up by a jam note and blueberry pulp. Features ripe, flowery fruitiness, topped off by a whiff of vanilla.

Has a lower carbonation with a pungent sourness to it, drinking throughout refreshing. Its lighter body creates a fitting blend consisting of a lactic tartness and unripe fruits.

Woah, big surprise during the first gulp, since the taste is basically the opposite to the nose. Sour from the first split-second, while producing an unripe fruit sourness with its piths qualities blending into cucumber water and tomato bush. A pleasant raspberry jam whiff settles atop this foundation, while even more lime pulp defines the finish.

No sign of the advertised Bourbon Barrel whatsoever, while the sour raspberry fruitiness is quite nice and refreshing. An aqueous softness sets the finish in this, with lemon staying on the tongue for a longer time.

BEAUTIFUL red/pink hazy beer with no head at all.

Nose: Raspberries, citrus, sugar, tart and red fruit.
Taste: A lot of raspberries! Sour and tart. Lime, citrus and some sweetness.
Mouth: Light to medium body. Light carbonated. Great sour taste.

I’m in love! This is so beautiful!
