Great roast malt and nutty, toasted malt depth, with a touch of dark cocoa.

Flavor is roast dominant, with a nutty malt backbone, and dark chocolate surfacing in the finish, which is slightly bitter. There's a suggestion of acrid character, but the bitterness kicks that away rather quickly.

Good to see that Ben could play in the majors.

Enjoyed from a growler in a pint glass, this very solid porter pours a deep dark brown with a firm light tan head that dissipates to a thin ring and nice lacing. Nose of dark chocolate, nutty malts, and some deeply roasted grain goodness. Flavors are dark chocolate and roasted grains up front, a hair of bitterness on the back that finishes moderately dry. A first brew for me from this fine brewery that is pretty close to home. A solid example of a porter if I ever had one. A visit is due!

Cheers!

I tried this at Prohibition in Powell, OH. Poured an opaque dark with thin head that did not leave much lace. The scent had hints of earth and roast. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with roast and peat presence. The mouthefeel was lighter in body with smooth carbonation. Overall it was a good beer.
