a cool fruited berliner here, modeled on red sangria that has tempranillo grapes, apple, orange, and lemon, deliciously summery and low alcohol, on the sweet side as they go, but somehow more drinkable as such, like it overbalances the simple lactic sourness, less abrasive in that way. the grape really leads the charge in the flavor, as it should, a bit of a melted jolly rancher candy thing going on, fruity more than wine-like, which i think makes sense with the moderate acidity. i get some generic citrus after that, but all the fruit is kind of muddled together, the tang of the apple with the lacto, the bitter of the citrus against the sweeter grape, but there isnt a whole lot more there, its well integrated but almost at the expense of expected complexity something like this should have. i like the fruitiness and the mild sourness, and i especially like the low alcohol, its summery and fun, drinkable even for those who dont like sours probably. they had some clever and well done beers here at fall, this is the first i have seen of something like this, and it works very well! grapey and tart.
