This golden, refreshing lager offers a fine balance between malt sweetness and hop bitterness. Brewed with 100% Canadian two-row pale malt and Moosehead’s own lager yeast, Moosehead Lager is cool-fermented and cold-aged to impart its award-winning flavour.

L: Looks the part; lots of activity, very pale, soft white head with average retention and some lacing
S: Getting past the skunk (I think every bottle I've had is light-struck or it's just what they're going for), there's some grass and floral hops and plenty of sweetness and toast before going more generically grainy
T: The grainy sweetness starts it off, but it does show some grass before giving a bit of a black pepper bite; skunk on the tongue as well
F: The body is light but consistent, not falling off into the finish, while it stays crisp and is smoother than expected

12 oz bottle poured into pint glass.

L- pours a clear, golden straw color with about a finger of white head that leaves a good lacing

S- skunky, cereal grain, corn, honey, metallic, typical green bottle beer

T- malty sweet with earthy, bitter hops, sweet corn, bready malt, good balance of sweet and bitter

F- light-bodied, crisp, carbonated, crushable, finishes clean

O- one of the better adjunct lagers Canada has to offer at a very reasonable price. I always like to pick up a 12-pack when I want something different from Miller or Rolling Rock. Kind of drinks like a discount Heineken so I’ll take it every time.

I like the taste . It is similar to European lagers - like Grolsch . I like how Moosehead is still independently owned , also .

The best mass-produced Canuck beer out there. Refreshing, crisp, and a little malty. Everything you want in a in cheap brew. Great if you want something poundable.

Deciding to rate this one on relative merits. It's a decent looking lager, pours clear straw gold with decent carbonation. Slightly dank on nose, funnily enough. Full enough feel and lagerish yeast and malts. Not overly sweet which is definitely a positive. Grand old brew for an easy night.

This was the premium beer of my college days, when we felt like splurging, or were up north in Almost-Canada (northern NY) , and other options were depressing. I suspect it will seem less special now, but I haven't had this in at least 30 years, so have no idea. Let's find out........... ;)

Clear gold with moderate white head.

Smell is....well...skunky. Not sure if that is due to age [I have no idea of it's age], or if that's its normal state. After the head dies down, so does the skunkiness. There is some sweet roasted grain, a bit of floral and honey aromas, and the barest hint of spiciness...all on top of a lightly-skunky base. Basically light & inoffensive, overall.

Taste is sweet , & corny, with a little noble hop spiciness at finish. Light lingering bitterness.

Feel is light, and smooth , with a brief flash of watery-ness in the middle, though overall, not watery. The latter third, & post swallow are somewhat drying, which is the saving grace of this beer, preventing it from being too sweet.

Overall, not something I'd want to have more than once in a great while, but tolerable enough for the occasional revisit for the nostalgia value. ; )
