James Ready Ale pours a medium gold/light amber with a nice head that lasts surprisingly long. The aroma is sweet and grainy. The flavor is slightly sweet cooked corn with some graininess and has a hint of a sweet estery character that rides into a dry grassy finish. There is a slightly harsh and unpleasant metallic aftertaste.
Slightly more flavor than JR 5.5, and a step above the average macro. As far as cheap beer in Ontario goes, this is one of the better ones. I wish the sold it less than a case at a time.

Well now another fine additions to the James Ready budget line brewed by Moosehead let's see if this one keeps up to par. I wonder if it will entice the frat boys as much as the rest of the line.
It pours a dark gold with slight amber tints and is capped off by what is initially a massive off white head. The head has some pretty impressive retention lasting all the way through with some ok lacing.
The nose is absolutely retched at first, smelling of chlorine and generally septic. Thankfully this resides quickly to a very mild scent of old bread and some artificial smelling sweetness.
Heavy watery bread notes give way to some bland sweet flavours and a dry finish, and extremely subdued hop presence give the slightest pucker in the finish. Mild tin and medicinal flavours creep in. The body is very watery and uncomplicated.
For a budget beer it's not terrible but beyond that I'll pass.
