Visited during a trip to St. Louis at noon on a Friday. Huge space, but not very busy. Very open with bier hall style tables and benches. Quality of everything is good (beer, service, food, environment). You buy and pay for food at the bar, food at the counter and carryout/swag at the front desk. Everyone I encountered was courteous and helpful. If you aren't familiar with Urban Chestnut, their head brewer and owner is German, worked in Belgium, UK & US with InBev, and can execute any classic style. There is something for everyone. I had a 1910 Bud clone which is probably one of the best classic American pilsners I've ever had. Paired it with the pork knuckle and sauerkraut sandwiches which were delicious. Prices were $6/pint & $11 for 2 small sandwiches and a fresh salad. Reasonable if you ask me. Recommended.

this place is massive, certainly the larger facility of the two. i had driven by a million times before i finally made it in. what took me so long i have no idea, but i am already looking forward to going back. this place is next level, you walk in from the corner through a large gift shop area to a sprawling beer hall, long tables are packed with patrons on a saturday night, and the bar stretches the length of the place, one of the longer continuous bars i have seen at a brewery! high ceilings and bustling energy, the brewery equipment in behind the bar, tons of space in here, some outside seating too, there are literally hundreds of people popping off in here and it doesnt feel overly full. i was amazed at how well coordinated the service was at the bar, my glass never got empty and i must have seamlessly interacted with five different bartenders, very professional operation there. they had some cool beers here that i hadnt seen from them in the other spot or around town at all, including a well made biere de garde, and a dubbel with sake yeast, some of the more adventurous beers i have had from urban chestnut, but they continue to make some of the best beers in the city and even in the midwest. this place is awesome, well worth checking out!

I visited Urban Chestnut when I was in St. Louis last week. It's basically a huge beerhall type place, pretty much as-advertised, but lacked the warmth I like in a brewery. Most of their regular beers appeared to be German styles, although they weren't exclusively so; there was a decent variety with 15 taps. I tried 4 beers; they were mostly decent, although nothing really blew me away.

Good beer, great food, and an overall cool vibe. No TV's, no sports, just a place to go and enjoy good beer. Bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable. If you're a fan of European style beer, this place is a must.

The exterior is impressive and tough to miss with a huge Urban Chestnut logo painted on one side of the building in red. The rest of the exterior is dark grey with black metal and red accents. Opening the first door opens to a covered, off the street bicycle parking section, and then into a retail store area. The staff were friendly and greeted us. Up the few steps and a massive beer hall with every bit of a dozen rows of long bench tables laid from one end to the other. On the side opposite the large windows is a place to order food or watch the quality control team, and the brewering equipment. A bar the length of the tables extends in front of the brewing equipment with two sets of taps. Attentive staff pour well into clean glassware. Current tap offerings or over head at the bar and on each table. The color scheme is dark and industrial with hearty dark stained wood, exposed brick, and metal. There is an outside porch that is somewhat covered as well. Very impressive and fun place to visit.

Much larger than I anticipated - a true bierhall, I suppose. Very nice thick wooden benches and tables. The food was delicious and the beer selection was outstanding - something for everyone, you could say. Will definitely go back again.
