A traditional amber ale complexly built from a careful selection of 7 different malts. American grown hops harmoniously rount out the wonderfully rich malts. Balanced without the bite.

This beer has grown on me. But luckily, not like the growing sensation and finally the inevitable horrible realization that you get when encountering the world's most insidious, most diabolically Evil creature, the fire ant.
Extremely drinkable, this one has become more and more tasty on each beer of the sixer.
Now whether I'm the best choice to judge the style as a whole is quite debatable. Nevertheless, I find this beer to be more and more a model (at least in my own mind) of what the American amber / red ale should be.

Dark copper/brownish. Murky. Minimal antique ivory colored head.
Smell’s rich, sweet whole grain bread. Toasted barley.
Tastes surprisingly dry, more bitter than the claimed 32 ibu on the can. As a home brewer, it feels more like 45 ibu. The toasted aspect is there but very little sweetness, very little complexity in the hop profile, I’m assuming it’s probably cascade or maybe northern brewer at the beginning of the boil.
Pretty basic.
It’s dry and crisp but not what I’d call light. Not my favorite Amber but it’s well made and a very decent beer.

Pulled from the fridge and left to sit at room temperature for approximately 20 minutes. Poured into round bottom Stein
Look: golden brown, translucent. Tea colored, with golden highlights. Light tan, three finger head.
Smell: peaches, pears, honey. Very little malt on the nose. Predominantly light fruits
Taste: fruity and perfumed at the front, with bitter herbs over the middle of the tongue. Sweet on the finish. Minimal y no malt taste. Arguably oversweet initially, almost cloyingly so. As it progressed, however, the herbaceous bitterness continued to ramp up without being counterbalanced, to the point i poured it out instead of finishing it.
Mouthfeel: medium-thin. Good effervescence on the tongue, with a good degree of residue in the mouth.
Overall: regrettable. It doesn't have the same malt and caramel notes I typically expect for an Amber ale and had some significant balance issues between the bitterness and the fruity sweetness. This is one of the most fruit-forward-tasting non-IPA beers I have had. It may look like an amber, but it might as well be an IPA. It was worth the taste, though I would not get again.
Unlike its tagline, it was unbalanced, with too much bite.

This beer looks great and tastes ok. It has a wonderful Red color to it with excellent clarity. Supposedly there are seven hand selected makes used in this beer. I'm not sure about that because the hip flavor is all consuming. It doesn't have a strong hop bite just a strong hop flavor. The traditional ale character of the beer really comes through. I would drink this one again as a good stand by beer or one to share with your non-craft beer friends.

At 348 Argentinian Steakhouse in Dallas. which has nice on tap beer selection and great food and service.
Liked this more than BA.
a) Distinctive red, clear, tan capped.
s) Malty, hop tempered, big aroma, orange peel, fruit, dust.
t) All toasted and caramelized malt tempered by the hop, less sweetness than is the standard for amber.
f) tasty, clean, easy, amber ale at its best.

I admit I bought this because of the name.
Clear red colored beer with a small tan colored head.
Smells of toasted grain and oak with a strong tea hop scent. Mildly sweet smelling and kind of woody. Strong burned sugar scent.
Starts out mildly sweet and quite malty. Medium level of bitterness. Tastes of caramel and wheat bran. Not super complex but it is tasty.
Mouthfeel is good.
Overall a tasty beer that is super easy to drink.

I think Fire Ant Funeral was a little bit underwhelming, not a whole lot of flavor despite the alleged 75 IBU. It was good not but not great. I should add I drank it fresh at the brewery so it was not expired.
Look: semi-clear reddish brown with very thin white head
Aroma: grapefruit, pine resin
Flavor: bready, sweet, grapefruit, some pine resin
Feel: light body

Decent Amber. Look and feel is spot on. Taste is ok. Maybe a bit on bitter side but not bad.

Pours a clear dark amber color with a 1/2 finger width foamy head. Head retention is very good as is lacing. Aroma of caramel and citrus. Slightly grainy. Smooth taste. Slightly toasty and grainy, caramel, citrus, decent bitterness. Very mild astringency on the aftertaste. Light to medium bodied with moderate to heavy carbonation. It is an enjoyable amber ale.
