Overall easy going beer. Good flavor, nothing crazy. Very solid amber/red ale for those days when you want something a little maltier, but not quite to the porter level.

Appearance:
Deep amber color, slight haze. Highly carbonated. Thick, off-white head.

Aroma:
Faint aroma. Toasted, caramel, a little fruity ester.

Taste/Finish/Body:
Bready, toasted, caramel, hint of nutty. Hop bitterness is medium, mostly spicy-leafy. Finish semi-dry, a little fruity. Medium bodied, slight creamy, moderate carbonation, easy drinking.

Overall:
It's a good Amber Ale.

i am surprised to see this not scored higher here, i thought it was a really solid and distinctive red, and easily the best beer they had on tap when i was there. its clear and malty, rich amber colored brew with a substantial khaki foam head on top. it smells fantastic too, more hoppy than a lot of these, but more citrus than bitter, orange peel or something from them in the nose, more mild in the flavor, but its a nice layer. the grain has a nice toasted and caramelized property to it, great depth, and less sweetness than is the standard for the style. things are in great balance, but this isnt boring or bland amber ale, its very flavorful. nice full fluffy body on it too with upbeat carbonation, its quite refreshing even, which is not a word i ever really associate with this kind of beer. i think the name of this beer is awesome too, clever for what it is and with some cool art to back it up. without question the best beer they make, and one of the better red ales i have had overall lately. the extra hops and grain depth make this a treat.
