Our Belgian White Ale is brewed with wheat, a distinctive Belgian yeast, a touch of coriander and curacao orange peel. In true Belgian style, this unfiltered beer has a signature cloudy appearance with light and spicy citrus flavours - making it a strong favourite with the European fans.

Poor's a clear straw which I was not expecting.
Smells strong of bananas, some wheat and sightly coriander and spice.
Nicely sweet and wheat on the front with a more bready finish. A bit of citrus which confused with the banana on the nose.

Appearance - Pours a slightly hazy pale straw with two fingers of bubbly white head.
Smell - wheat malts, fruity esters from the yeast, orange peel, coriander, and spicy hops.
Taste - The wheat malts and yeast are the dominant flavour followed by the orange peel and coriander. The spicy hops are present but the other ingredients take precedence.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with light to moderate carbonation. Finishes dry with the orange peel and coriander lingering in the aftertaste.
Overall - A tasty witbier that delivers on the orange peel and coriander flavours without being off-putting. The only knock on this brew is the carbonation - I wish it had a little more to enhance the mouthfeel and give more longevity to the head.

A surprisingly good witbier. Retains the crisp citrus freshness that many other Canadian witbiers lack, as well as being extremely smooth on the finish. Definitely check it out.

This is not my favourite style of beer, nor is it my top choice from FBC. This brew definitely hits all of the requirements of a Wit - nice white foam head, cloudiness, coriander and citrus smell. I find Ol' Willy to be a bit tart for my personal tastes. Overall, however, it does a good job of representing the style. This is definitely best suited for a nice warm patio day.

Bomber poured into a weizen glass. A hazy pale straw color with an initially billowing fizzy white head that quickly settles down and a strong pineapple gummy candy nose, smells tart and perhaps even a little astringent, and the palate follows suit with a near-sour bouquet of lemon rind, orange, iced green tea, green banana, very light soda cracker, and very subdued coriander seed (a good thing). Fizzy and crisp, thin to moderate body and a dryish finish featuring some citrus (lime?) and tropical fruit-like hops. All in all, this is a solid example of the style ... Notable for the limited wheat/malt flavor, tasteful spicing, and tart Belgian "farmhouse" character. Others may want things a tad sweeter.

A: Pours pale-straw colour with lots of effervescence immediately--very carbonated. Virtually no head/quickly dissipates.
N: Citrus, slight maltiness.
T: Forward crisp citrus, but not too overpowering and finishes with a noticeable coriander element.
M: Light-bodied, doesn't linger. A bit too much carbonation for my taste.
O: I like it, particularly the orange/citrus qualities. It's not my favourite style of beer, but Fernie seems to have gotten it right. Belgian White Ale fanatics would probably appreciate it more than me, but it's solid.
