Native to the Rocky Mountain region, the Huckleberry is prized for its sweetness and deep colour. We’ve blended it with a touch of wheat to create a smooth and creamy beer with a touch of huckleberries. Great for the summer patio season, cosy inter-season dinners or your finest apres ski. We’ve added the berry juice after filtration, giving a subtle purple colour and a slight haze, with a tartly sweet finish.

Clear pink-gold color. Poured a medium height head that collapsed to a patchy skiff after half a minute. Medium-low flow of tiny bubbles from the bottom of the glass. Left a couple of small dots of lace.

Light fruit scent (huckleberry?) with a light malt. The glass accumulates a light barnyard scent if left alone - this is consumed with each first sniff after leaving it alone for 10 or so seconds. Very light funk that could be yeast, hops, or both. Swirling the glass kicks up a much stronger barnyard that is closer to horse blanket.

Mostly fruit flavor - couldn't say if this was huckleberry or not. Starts with a brief burst of barnyard. Tastes oddly thin, like this has been diluted with an equal volume of water. Light malt. Very light hops. There is an undercurrent of funk and pepper that seems like a strange chemical factory smell/taste. The aftertaste is mostly barnyard, the funk and pepper, and a bit of the fruit.

Very light tongue tingling, but it does convert almost all the liquid to foam for a few seconds. A bit astringent.

Too much fruit. The natural ale is buried. There is also this mix of strange chemical flavors as a base. My notes from a few years ago show that I didn't like this then, so the overall experience hasn't changed.

It’s kind of a pinkish beige colour, clear filtered with moderate carbonation and a finger of pink tinged to white head.

It smells of malt, sour, and a bit of cardboard.

It is slightly sweet with berries and with a strong malty back bone.

Light body with moderate carbonation.

I got this in Cranbrook BC and I’m drinking it in Redding California September 17, 2019.

On tap at the Beagle Pub on Vancouver Island.
Pours clear golden rose with a tall short pinkish white head.
The appealing aroma is has some berries but is very mild. So too with the flavor.
Overall: too timid

British Columbia review dump.

A- Tallboy into a pint glass with a deep gold pale amber body and a thick creamy white head. The cap shoots to an inch high with great retention. Lacing is formed with thick blankets.

S- Generic sweet malts with plenty of sweetness and caramelization dominating the aroma. Sweet red apples, pear esters, cereal, yeast bread and a generic jammy berry hints.

T- A bit cleaner than in the aroma but again rather sweet and the yeast runs wild with esters all over. Notes of sweet apple and peat join the whole grains and sweet barley to drive the beers flavor profile. A hint of berry flavoring feels lost with the strong yeast and sweetness.

MF- Medium bodied with a creamy and puffy texture. The carbonation is a bit low and it makes it feel somewhat thin.

Yeast esters run wild and join sweet grains to make a dangerous and untamed duo. The huckleberry is beyond secondary to this and overall it comes off as messy.

Appearance - Pours a pale raspberry colour with three fingers of bubbly blush head.

Smell - wheat malts, tart berry aroma, grape juice, and hint of earthy and floral hops.

Taste - Predominately the taste is the wheat malts and huckleberries. The hops are very mild.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with light to moderate carbonation. Finishes smooth, creamy with the tartness lingering.

Overall - A nice wheat ale for those who are curious to try a beer infused with fruit, The flavours are subtle but nonetheless refreshing.

Appearance is a cloudy bronze shade, with a fluffy white head. Moderate head retention. Aroma is very fruity, sort of a jammy berry-like smell. Fruit is much less prominent in the flavor. Very wheaty, with very little yeast influence (no confusing it for a hefeweizen). Beyond the bready flavors, just a touch of fruityness and a bit of phenolic flavor on the back end. Mouthfeel is on full side with smooth carbonation.

This was a pleasant surprise. While I expected more huckleberry flavor, what I got was a quality wheat beer, with a touch of berry fruityness. The huckleberry didn't stand out to me as much as several other versions in my memory, but much better than the overly fruity/sweet, watered down versions you often get with fruited wheat beers.
