From the 21 oz. crowler canned on August 28, 2015. Sampled on August 31, 2015.

Murky muddy pale yellow pour with big off-white head.

The aroma brings out a floral and citrus hop character with a nice balance of toasted pale malts.

Medium body.

The taste has the same bready malt start but the hop bitterness leans more toward the spicy side.

Had high hopes for this one but was extremely disappointed. The smell was generally OK, with good citrus and tropical notes but a slight hint of smokiness, which seemed strange. When tasting the first wave was the fruit/resin but a second, powerful wave came on after, which was a very strong smokey or phenolic taste. Very powerful and not expected at all. I took it back to the store to have them taste it, and while they admitted getting some of that flavor I think they just didn't want to admit that the beer was bad. If I came across this beer somewhere I would give it another shot, but for $16 for a 32 oz crowler I was very disappointed given the off flavors.

32oz Crowler poured into a Tributary Tulip (July can date?)

Look: Beautiful bright orange with a slight haze. Minimal lacing and a one finger head that quickly dissipates. It has the look of a typical NE style IPA.

Smell: Orange, tangerine and floral hops. Wait, what's that? Is that smoke?

Taste: Again some orange, slight pine, a resin bitterness offset by a malty sweetness then... bam! Wood stove, ashtray, burnt peanuts. What would posses them to do this?

Feel: Just the right level of alcohol, perfect carbonation.

Overall: Man,this is just criminal... This is my first beer from Garrison, and being a local, I had really high hopes. This would be an exceptional beer but I just don't get the smoked (toasted?) malt. It hits all the marks if not for that one aspect, and it's like they did it just to differentiate it from the other NE style IPAs. Sadly, this would've fit right in with them. (Trillium, Bissell, Foundation, etc.) I'm hoping this was a one off experiment and the other rating/reviews don't have the smoke.

Pours an extremely hazy orange with a finger and a half of white head.
Smells of stone fruit, a bit of pineapple and some citrus
Taste is more stone fruit, orange, almost a bit fruit punch-like. A bit resiny. Some slight malt sweetness.
Medium bodied and smooth drinking, no harsh bitterness or alcoholic heat.
Overall another very good hoppy beer from Garrison City.

Pours a hazy, deep orange color with a 2 finger white head. Leaves a ton of lacing around the glass as the head dissipates.

The smell is the strongest feature of this DIPA, with pine, grapefruit, and tangerine notes exploding out of the glass. There's also a subtle malt sweetness to the aroma that really balances things out.

The taste is juicy and very fruity. A lot of citrus and tropical flavors with just a hint of pine bitterness. Lots of sweet, doughy malt on the backbone. Nice balance here.

There's medium carbonation with a very light peppery burn on the end. The ABV is definitely present, but not overpowering in any way. Very smooth and lightly creamy.

This is an extremely impressive offering and if these guys can continue to make brews of this caliber they'll definitely begin to make a name for themselves in the Northeast.

Can from Bert's with a canned on date 1/27/16 Love it!
Slightly hazy light golden color with a decent sized long lasting bubbly white head that persists. Big tropical stone fruity light pine hoppy nose with a crackery maltiness underneath. Sweet bready light caramel maltiness with hints of orange. Mostly fruity but light earthy hop flavor with a moderate level of bitterness. Light alcohol warming in the finish. Definitely doesn't suck, but maybe a hint of the malty side for my tastes.
