Nice place just steps from the University. Vibe is simple, industrial, fairly small, and very crowded when we arrived. My only complaint is the noise. The music itself was loud enough, plus the acoustics of the place seemed bad and it was really hard to have a conversation.

Quality of the 2 beers I had were both solid. Other people in our party were pleased with their choices as well. The selection was also good, upwards of a dozen beers on tap.

Service was pretty standard, pleasant, and relatively speedy considering the crowd.

Overall, a very solid place. I think if I were to return I'd try to go mid week when it wasn't quite so loud and busy.

I was pretty excited when this place opened, it's only a few blocks from my house. I've been about a dozen times, very cool building, I love the open format with all the equipment right there behind the bar. Great place to go chill next to the open doors on a summer evening. It does bother the heck out of me that tap lines are showing under the bar though! They should really put some doors over it to hide the bare tap lines/drain leading into the subfloor, it just makes things look unfinished.

Service is good, they're very attentive. Their prices are rather high though, especially for the quality of the beer. I've had a few good brews there, but mostly they've been mediocre, a little disappointing, and very inconsistent. When they first opened, I was pretty impressed with the quality of brew they were turning out for a new brewery. It's gone downhill over time though. They typically have 10-12 beers on tap so in theory the selection is good but in terms of things you'd really want to drink the selection isn't so great. To run down the brews I've had without doing a full review of each (I'll get to it eventually), Terrarum is solid, Brabble is an above average porter, and the Meristem is very good.

Canticle my wife loved the first time, and I agreed it was quite good then but the flavor profile changes with every batch. Mostly I find it becoming more metallic, it's been thin and tannic at times, and it's just regressing.

Saleos is an average Belgian Golden Strong, nothing particularly wrong with it just a bit rough around the edges.

Erinyes, the kettle sour on cherries, I have not tried so I can't give an opinion on it. But I will say it's a pet peeve of mine to see places charging a couple extra dollars for kettle sours just because they're a sour. These things aren't being barrel aged for months or years, they take an additional 24-48 hours for the Lacto to do it's job and no extra equipment. They shouldn't be priced any more than an apricot blonde ale would be...

Their IPA's are what disappoint me the most:
1) Systemic just doesn't have much hop flavor or aroma compared to modern IPA's, especially those with Mosaic, it's mostly just bitterness.
2) The pint of Hyperbole I had last night had one of the worst hop aromas I've encountered, a very musty smell of oxidized American hops. Either they weren't good quality hops or somehow their beer is getting oxidized along the way. It could also be extremely dirty tap lines causing it. Whatever the case, I didn't make it halfway through the pint. I figured my liver deserves better.
3) It's been a few months since I've had Archfiend or Aphion but neither really impressed me. Both were boozy on the palate and lacking in hop flavor/aroma.
4) Machination I had when they first tapped it and it was far too sweet for a strong ale IMO, maybe they've tweaked it over time but I haven't followed up on it.
5) Prisma could be a good session IPA but it's just too thin and again lacking in the hop flavor/aroma, mostly just hop bitterness. There are significant better beers in this style around the Denver market.

Overall I'm going to choose to walk across the street or down to University/Evans in the future until I start hearing really good things about Fermaentra from credible sources. From what I've seen so far I'm not going to hold my breath.

V-Fermaentra is located in the building that housed the bike shop I used to use (before the Denver Spoke went to shit, anyway). There is a lot of brick, some polished old wood, lots of light from the big overhead doors up front and airy, high ceilings. The bar is pretty small, and the seating area up front isn't huge, either. Brewing equipment is visible in back. The crowd was mainly young families (like pre-school kids and their parents) and a few college kids when I visited on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. The place was full but not packed.

Q-I really like the pale that I am drinking as I write this review. The hybrid ale/lager thing (Amalgam) was a bit odd, but it was, as promised, a mix of lager and ale yeast that showcased the flavors from both yeasts nicely. Both beers are well made.

Ser-The bartender was friendly, prompt, and he knew what he was talking about when I asked him about the beers. Everybody seemed upbeat and happy to be there. They use appropriate glassware.

Sel-Fermaentra had nine beers on tap when I visited; they ranged from lighter pales to black saisons to a Belgian golden (at 9.2% ABV) to an imperial stout. I'm intrigued and impressed enough by the pale that I'm drinking to try some of the higher ABV offerings.

O-This place has promise. I like the space and for a new-ish brewery, the beers are very solid. I'm curious to see how it does in the neighborhood.

another brand new brewery coming to south denver, they just keep popping up. this one is in the bike shop across from illegal petes on evans by DU. i always think craft beer stuff will do well in this hood, given the college and all, but renegade failed (for a lot of reasons), and now we have to see how these guys do. the place is awesome, vaulted ceilings, all brick, brewhouse in back and lots of capacity, maybe eight or nine beers on. a little bit of a pretentious doorman in my limited visits here, but the people actually running the show have all seemed real nice, relatively humble, and just real excited about their space. the beers range from epic to passable, but the pale ale (all southern hemisphere hops) was wonderful, and the amber was different too, real caramelized and big, wintery, and delicious. the imperial stout was exposed, and a few others seemed overly generic, but i think they are a bit ahead of the curve beer-wise given their newness. a place thats cool to hang, has a neighborhood feel already, and the busy weekend crowds should mellow as time goes by (its very loud in here on the weekends). still, this is an area that really did need a close by brewery (walkable from campus), and these guys have stepped in very nicely. i look forward to watching them evolve in the coming months. worth a visit here though in the early going to show some support.

edit: as these guys have gotten busier, the service has taken a hit. i swear i waited ten minutes at the bar to get noticed today, and although it was real busy for a sunday, it wasnt absurd. frustratingly slow at times, and unapologetic. doesnt bother me when the beer tastes this good, but its still a bummer and worth mentioning.
