Notes: Orange Vanilla Creamsicle Sour

We all know those Orange popsicle with the creamy filling. Well this beer is like that, but better because it has alcohol in it! Packed with enough oranges to cure scurvy, a little vanilla sweetness on the end, and just enough tartness to wake you up your tastebuds and let them know that its time to party. So party on, soak up the sun, and live life likes its an adventure because it is. Drink promiscuously friends!

Hazy light orange with a fat finger of yellowed white head. Quickly settles into a crown with minimal lacing.

Orange, cream and a little vanilla in the nose that all has a little zesty spiciness to it.

Grown-up orange creamsicle spritzer flavors. Orange marmalade, pineapple, cream, with a nice sourness layered on top of it all. Lightly puckering sourness and creamsicle flavors linger in the aftertaste.

Medium bodied with a lightly creamy feel and fizzy carbonation.

It’s hard to imagine a better-executed orange creamsicle beer. This isn’t something I’d want to drink pints of in one sitting, but it’s still damn tasty.

Scurvy beware! You're no match for this beer. Blended with copious orange character, oats and vanilla, the smoothie sour ale of Nowhere In Particular tastes more like oranges than many oranges do.

Batch Number 026, or better known as Orange Creamsicle Sour, pours a peachy, hazy, golden orange hue and settles with a soapy white lather. Its fragrant citronella scent is breaming with all things Valencia oranges. Radiant in its perfume, the scent of childhood push-ups come to mind immediately. Sweet with sherbet, sourdough and mild pastry, the malt influence is supportive and simple, leading the way with fruit juices and mild sugars.

The taste tightens from a candied orange flavor early and toward a tangier, slight more bitter orange flavor of mandarin, tangerine, kumquat and blood orange that's equipped with dried citrus peel, pith and rind. Trending moderately sour, the tart ale is slightly cider-like with a sangria styled wine nuance. Lemon verbena and a slight herbal bitterness provides a tepid balance against the orange flavor heading into finish.

Medium light, but more moderate for sour ale, its easy to forget that there's a sour ale underneath from the total seduction of orange flavor throughout. A short aftertaste of tartness, orange peel and faint grassiness keeps the session fruit-centric from start to finish.

Pours a hazy light yellow/orange with a small white head that dissipates. Minimal lacing.

Aroma of sweet orange and vanilla bean. Enticing.

A very fruity and bright orange flavor starts and lingers, vanilla hits the middle. Not as sweet as expected but not astringent. Moderate sourness that works really well.

Light mouthfeel though not thin. Good carbonation. No bite.

Outstanding.

12 ounce can into tulip glass; no can dating, but is a recent release. Pours moderate hazy deep golden amber/light orange color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with poor retention, that reduces to a ring of lace eventually. Minimal spotty lacing on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of huge blood orange juice, tart lemon, lime, citrus peel/zest, peach, pear, red/green apple, melon, white wine, vanilla, cream, hay, straw, grass, wheat, white bread dough, light lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of oranges, fruity/acidic yeast, vanilla, lactose, and moderate bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of huge blood orange juice, lemon, lime, citrus peel/zest, peach, pear, red/green apple, melon, white wine, vanilla, cream, hay, straw, grass, wheat, white bread dough, light lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness, fruit tang, and light spiciness in the mouthfeel. Lingering notes of blood orange juice, tart lemon, lime, citrus peel/zest, peach, pear, red/green apple, melon, white wine, vanilla, cream, hay, straw, grass, wheat, white bread dough, light lacto funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of oranges, fruity/acidic yeast, vanilla, lactose, and moderate bready malt flavors; with an awesome malt/tartness and tangy fruit balance, with zero puckering flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from tartness and tangy fruit. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately creamy/grainy/bready/acidic/tangy balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.5%. Overall this is an outstanding fruited Berliner weisse! All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of oranges, fruity/acidic yeast, vanilla, lactose, and moderate bready malt flavors; very smooth and refreshing to drink with the mellowly acidic/tangy/drying finish, not overly lactic. Awesome balance of juicy oranges and Lacto complexity; with a nice oat/malt/lactose backbone against acidity. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

Total orange juice, orange soda, light citric tartness, hint of vanilla, tangerine, orange pith

Overall this doesn't drink like a beer but it's super poundable

Wow. This is a phenomenal sour. Smell is piles of orange, bright and juicy. Taste brings even more tart orange, more like orange juice than beer, but a bit more thin and acidic. The vanilla comes next, and then cereal grains. This is the best ‘orange creamsicle’ style I’ve seen. It might be naturally soured this way, bit it feels a bit like there might be some citric acid here. Even if so, it works. This one hangs in the palate (and mind) for hours. Top marks all around.

This one a gift from my nephew Tyler Brown. Thanks buddy! Pours an opaque (almost grainy) deep straw/pale gold producing 1.5 fingers of mineral water effervescent, rapidly diminishing white head which leaves only a hint of surface collar & no lacing. Aroma is lactic Orange Crush orange, lemon-lime & green apple tartness, bread dough, white fruits & vanilla marked by an acidic sensation in the nostrils. Taste opens with orange Pixy Stix sourness followed by all the components of the nose wrapped in an earthy hint. Nicely orange & lactose sherbet like in a peppery, tongue crawling, crisp drying finish. The aftertaste is only a ghost of the sip with all sourness departing after the finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a low-medium carbonation that rapidly dissipates as the brew warms; prickly it soon transitions to smooth & creamy from the oats.

This is one not to be missed if you see it. Has a taste reminiscent of good humor orange creamsicle popsicles but leaning more on the citrus than the vanilla. Not too sweet.
