The shop is a about halfway below street level with high windows looking out at street level. Entry into the shop puts you by a check out counter and several tables and booths for on-site consumption. There are a conglomeration of shelves with various local and import beers, and wine, mead, and hard liquor. Unfortunately, the beer shelf space is dwindling. There is a row of fridges with cold beer to-go or for on-site consumption with a bar on the opposite side of the room. The tap list stretches to about 12 long with a variety of styles present. The staff is friendly and helpful in helping select a beer. Overall, it's a nice little shop for to-go beer or on-site drinking.

Subterranenean basement space, tile floors and track lighting. When you walk in there's a few tables and shelves with beer. Towards the back there's a bar, and to the right there's a bank of coolers. The area could use some tightening up to make it it a little more cohesive, but it's a nice enough place. Island shelves separate things into craft, imports, wine, and ciders.
Service was really great, a guy with a unique haircut came by and asked if I needed help, and I said I was looking for local and regional beers. They offered a sample at the bar of Rock Bridge Option #2 which was great. There was plenty in stock too, so I left with a couple 4 packs. At the bar, the staff knew the local growler laws inside and out and educated me on the intricacies.
Selection was good considering the location, various Prairie, Oud Beersel Oude Geuze, Cuvee Des Jonquilles.
The local selection was lacking a bit, maybe 3 from Logboat, a couple from Bur Oak, and a few from Rock Bridge.
Overall it's a nice stop if you're in Columbia, but not really a destination. The "5" reviews here are a little misleading.
Hope to stop here again sometime and also eat at Sycamore.

Great selection, friendly and knowledgeable staff, competitive pricing, convenient downtown location, and draft beer to sip on while shopping.
I gave 5s straight across because I think what they are doing is unique here in Columbia, and I think they are doing a great job of it. You could go to itap and have way more taps to choose from, but it feels cold and corporate in there. (I know itap is a local Missouri company and Craft Beer Cellar is a franchise, I'm just saying how they feel to me). To me CBC is a much more comfortable place to be, and you can hang out there at one of the tables they have in the front. As a retail outlet they offer much greater flexibility than other stores in that every beer is available as a single.
Check it out.

I cannot say much more about this place than it is THE place to go if you consider yourself a fan of the brew. I walked in and was amazed from the start. All of the staff was very friendly. They all knew their stuff, but didn't let it get to their head. You can have any beer as a single. Let me say that again...You can have any beer as a single. No other place in my area does anything close, other than "build six pack". Their selection is hard to beat. If they have a particular brand of beer, they have ALL of the offerings. I saw beer from well known companies that I didn't even know existed. Will go again, and again.

EDIT: Selection has been greatly reduced in the past year. Changed the score to reflect that fact.
Great store. 20 taps with a 5oz or full pour option. They have a happy hour with a free Harold's donut. Pull any single from six packs. Huge selection. Even a rewards club.
