Irish music has usually been the music of choice on brew days. On this particular day we decided to go a little more festive and mix it up during the creation of this winter warmer. While we tried mixing it up, the radio did not. After hearing Dominick the Donkey for the 4th time we knew it was a sign… and now our winter warmer will forever be known as "Shoes for Louie". This English Style Ale has a smooth sweet taste that lets the amber malts take center stage. In this case you might find a nuttiness, dried fruits, and molasses flavor that will make malt lovers smile.

I haven't had the opportunity to sample many Burton Style Ales brewed either domestically or internationally but, if this is a solid example of the style, I've been missing some very tasty items. I was expecting a laid-back type of ale but this one jumped out at me flavor-wise. Also expected the malts to dominate but found that they blended in rather than dominated. This is a winner for Iron Duke - and I hope it isn't just a short-term seasonal. I only had 1 can but now I'm ready to return to Ryan & Casey in Greenfield (only store where I've seen this product available) for a 4-pack ASAP.

Enjoyed on draft at the brewery,
A - Caramel colored, active carbonation pushes toward the surface, a thine and appropriate cap rests on top.
S - A bit of toffee, lightly roasted malts, winter grains, and light brown sugar.
T - Warm brown bread, a bit of molasses with brown butter, Sweet.
M - Lite in body, the carbonation is just right, the palate response is toward the sweet side, however a nice bitter element
keeps things balanced.
O - A nice take on the style, Well crafted and presented. Worth seeking out

Beautiful dark Amber color. Subtle malty smell. Sweet tasting! Nutty after taste. Very smooth! Could drink it for hours!
