12oz bottle poured into a snifter

A- pours a deep brown color with a small foamy khaki colored head that reduces to a cream thin film floating on top

S- smells of roasted malt, grains, light chocolate and char, dark bread & caramel

T- roasted malt, chocolate and cocoa up front, dark breads, a hint of earthy hop mid-palate, finishes with caramel, light coffee and more roast

M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a creamy mouthfeel that continues into a bit of a slick finish

O- easy drinking, straight-forward, porter

Pours deep brown with khaki head that rings out in the glass pretty rapidly. Roasted malts and cocoa hit the nose. Flavor is on par with the aroma. RIch malts with cocoa, a touch of coffee, just enough. A certain bitterness hangs on a bit long in the aftertaste. Medium-bodied. Not bad.

Pours a dark brown coffee bean color with a 2 finger beige head. The head recedes and leaves a little lace on the sides of the glass.

Tons of roast barley and cocoa malts, with some lactose and light chocolate.

Flavor is mostly roasty and bitter, with some lactose hits here and there. Lots of metallic and burnt elements.

Feel is pretty creamy while keeping a nice roasty dryness. Still, it parches pretty ugly on the tongue and leaves an undesireable feel.

Overall, this porter sucks. The worst offering from Southern Tier.

From a bottle, pours an opaque black with a beige head. Aroma of caramel and malt. Taste is malt forward with roasted coffee. Bitterness at the end isn't distinctly from hops, but nicely satisfying. Could drink this all day.

(12 oz bottle, DOB 03/04/16... poured into a nonic)

L: deep reddish-brown color, practically opaque... oil-glisten atop fairly-tight spongy suds

S: mid-grade coffee grounds, dark brown bread crust with a background whisper of molasses, nutty and naked dark roast malt grain... perhaps a faint whiff of orange-y hops

T: coffee, cocoa, dark caramel, lightly-medicinal booze mid-to-back... coffee roast, oily roasted nut, and dried, sun-burnt grassy hops in the finish... mildly acidic, mildly bitter-tannic aftertaste, a bit drier than expected... dark chocolate flavor builds on palate with each sip... overall taste has nice intensity but lacks breadth in its malt spectrum

F: up front, some sips have a bite to them, whether it's the carbonation and/or the acids from the hops and dark malts... the underbelly is a touch jelly-wobbly with a lightly-viscous skin... marginal residual slick but, again, the finish is rather hushed and a notch or two lighter than expected... alcohol at low low heat

O: the overall taste leans heavily on its roasted character, the accompanying bitterness has a nice little bite, and it's thankfully not that sweet... lacks a unique taste to make you a devotee, but it's solid enough and I could drink 1 or 2 more

This is one of the few beers my wife and I agree is very tasty. Poured into a glass it looks the way a Porter should, Nice tan head and a dark body. It drinks a bit light for a Porter, and there is a very minor off-taste that I could never put my finger on. Maybe it's just overly or oddly hopped? Overall it's a good beer that I buy often because it's readily available at my local store and I know what I'm getting every time.
