Pours a deep, dark brown with 1/4" of brown head that fades to a thin lacing. The nose has faint notes of roasted and chocolate malts. The taste has notes of roasted malts and faint coffee, but the flavor is fleeting and doesn't spend much time on the palate. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, smooth, but a little heavily carbonated and dry.

This isn't a bad beer. The flavor could be a little more robust, but overall it's worth checking out.

A-pours extremely dark brown with a tan head with ok retention. Less than I would have expected
S-roasted malt, unsweetened cocoa
T-more of the same with more chocolate flavor in the finish, along with a decent amount of sweetness
M-medium bodied
O-Flavors are can be subtle at times, but overall well crafted. Would have liked to see a little more roasted character in the aroma and flavor.

Southern Tier Porter pours dark brown into the glass with a small, fizzy light brown head on top. The foam dissolves quickly leaving no head or lace behind.

The aroma is faint with malty notes of chocolate, toffee, dark fruit, roasted malt and a hint of grass.

Each sip of this light to medium bodied beer is dry with medium carbonation. The flavor is malty with notes of chocolate, toffee, roasted malt and nuts. A touch of ripe fruit is mixed in there too. It finishes dry with some smoke. Once gone the roast malt flavor lingers on the palate.

This is an easy drinking beer with a nice malty flavor. It has a flat appearance and faint aroma, but otherwise well done.

Appearance: Very deep brown (about a 37 SRM), finger and a half tan head, good lacing,

Smell: Big coffee, cream, very dark chocolate, slight woody, slight dark fruit.

Taste: Clean coffee, cream, chocolate, woody, earthy, coffee bitterness. Medium body. Tad too strong carb.

Final Thoughts: Just a pretty general porter. Pretty standard, nothing new, nothing done perfectly. Just, porter. I like simple and perfectly done, this is kind below that point. It's good, but theres better. Nice body and a bit more flavor in this one would have made this simple and perfect.
