Pale orange. Translucent, well-filtered, with a large fluffy head.

Smells of American hops and English malt. Medium strength hops for an IPA, very tangy and sharp and intense for an ESB. A bit faint for the ABV, but still pleasurable.

Tastes... a bit faint at first, but I grew to like it quite a bit. Taste is sharp hops and toffee barley up front, a little bit of peat and more hops in the middle, and then a finish of green hops and... vanishment. I can see how people may be disappointed in this. The body is a bit thin, and the finish is quite abrupt. Overall, however, it's pretty good. And for the price it is borderline excellent.

As a Harvest Ale, I would expect the malt to dominate the pallet and aroma. While malt does dominate the flavor, there is a surprisingly pleasant mild hop aroma. Hops in the flavor are excellent. They don't overtake the caramel malt flavor, but balance the whole flavor profile very well! It tastes like a caramelized American pale ale.

I would definitely buy this again for any occasion.

Definitely an Americanized version of the classic ESB, which is to say it's over-hopped & lacks balance in the malt / hop ratio. It isn't too abrasive with the hops & it has a good body, but the malt profile is a letdown

Deep gold with a hint of burgundy, plenty of carbonation. Smells strongly of hops, but a mild variety. Tastes bitter, mostly of hops. The malt isn't boring but a bit one dimensional. One of those lighter beers that surprises with a well crafted body. Some alcohol in the after taste, but it's a clean flavor and finishes very balanced.
