L: Pours amber with a slight haze under a 2” tan cap that slowly descends to a thick clingy, sudsy film.
S: Citrus aromas, some green coffee bean, some vegetal aromas, orange.
T: Spicy palate with kind of a green or very lightly roasted coffee bean bitterness, big juicy orange citrus, some vegetal green coffee bean astringency on the finish with a hint of grass. Orange is the big flavor with the green coffee bean acting more as a spice. No big roast flavors.
F: Creamy, juicy, medium body and carbonation.
O: A truly unique beer with an interesting array of flavors that shouldn’t work but somehow do.

Poured from a 750 ml bottle into a Duvel tulip glass.

Appearance: Pours a bright and somewhat hazy golden orange with a moderate amount of bubbles. Big two finger white head with decent retention.

Smell: A yeasty, spicy, and fruity Belgian style aroma with big hints of coffee and fruit esters. Belgian yeast with spice hints of clove, peppers, coriander, and funk. Big scent of coffee beans stick out giving a roasty edge. Fruit hints of banana, orange, green apple, grape, and pear. Sweet hints of candied sugar. Floral and earthy hops with some good hints of grass. A pretty unique and good aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a pretty spicy, yeasty, and fruity Belgian Tripel style taste with good notes of coffee, spice, and fruit. Belgian yeast with some spice notes of clove, peppers, coriander, and funk. The coffee flavor is pretty noticeable and strong but doesn’t overwhelm the Belgian elements. Fruit notes of banana, orange, lemon zest, green apple, pear, and grape. Sweet taste of candied sugar. Background notes of grassy hops. A pretty nice taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a high level of carbonation. Spicy, crisp, and pretty drying on the finish. Alcohol heat is pretty mild.

Overall: A pretty unique and good twist on a Tripel. Has the spice and fruit esters you expect from the style with a big twist of coffee that oddly works well.

DATE TASTED: February 12, 2016... GLASSWARE: Affligem chalice... OCCASION: a cold streak coming after another exciting basketball game for Will... APPEARANCE: densely hazy with tangible suspensions in a light orange body; the thick foamy head settles to a quarter-finger off-white... AROMA: gritty coffee bean with a spicy peppercorn; hops suggest floral notes with orange and coriander... PALATE: aggressively effervescent, with a dryness late and a vibrancy at the lips...the texture is medium-bodied, with the sediment "in" working with a pulpy experience... a warming sensation at the end...dangerously drinkable...TASTE: a rather alluring combination of orange and coffee bean--peach, grapefruit and a slamming salt-and-pepper barrage makes for a flavorful sip... as the bottle drains, the lithesome Belgian profile emerges, leaving the grittier flavor aspects to meld with the aftertaste OVERALL: above par with the usual Southern Tier offerings...an outstandingly light, flavorful experience....

Pours an effervescent honey color with 2 fingers of cream colored head. Viscious look, good head retention & lacing

S: Breadyness & orange blossom, over-ripe pears, & a little pineapple

T: Orange peel, pineapple, a little juicy fruit, a little bit of pear skin, peppery notes & grainy bitterness up front. Green coffee notes, orange peel, a little bit of coriander, & juicy fruit, plus white pepper & green banana. Finishes fruity, peppery, with juicy fruit & spicyness

MF: Medium bodied, delicate carbonation, skews fruitty

Interesting beer, I liked this, not a slave to the style, really enjoyed this

Enjoyed from a growler in a Stone Levitation tulip glass, this excellent triple pours a clear gold color with a thick white head of slowly dissipating bubbles and light lacing. Nose of light coriander, citrus fruits, sweet malts, and spicy hops. Flavors are complex to say the least. Belgian candy up front gives way to coriander and orange peel to the sides and back with a light coffee flavor that cascades over citrus hops and bittering hops. Good carbonation makes this an easy sipper. Very nice with a light bitter sweet aftertaste. A good fusion flavor that works compared to many other experimental styles.

Cheers

750 ml bottle, bottled on 10/23/14. Served in a Prairie Teku, the beer pours a hazy golden/orange color with about an inch off-white head. Head retention and lacing are both good. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like orange peel, oranges, peppery spice, cloves, pear, coffee, and coriander. The taste is similar to the aroma, the brew tastes like coriander, orange peel, pear, peppery spice, yeasty earthiness and some coffee. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's smooth, coating, and is also well carbonated. I think it's an interesting brew that I liked, but I'm not sure if it's something I would want to drink very often. With that being said, it's certainly worth trying at least once. $8.99 a bottle.
