Bottle to tulip, the appearance was a burnt golden color with a little white foamy head that fell off at a decent pace. Light trickling lace. The aroma had some stale cracker-like malts playing with some grapefruit sweet to bitter hops. Some light hop spice. The flavor was moderately sweet through the blend of the prior mentioned aromas. Malty sort of aftertaste. Finish was a bit sticky. The palate was medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt fine. Overall, not really a standout DIPA for me, perhaps do-able in a pinch.

Holy Crap. This is fantastic. Pours clear burnt orange out of the bottle with a creamy, off-white, and fluffy head. Smells like straight-up tangerine, go figure. On the palate, this beer knocks most other fruit-additive IPA's out of the water. Loads of tangerine up front with subtle floral notes on the back end to smooth things out. The ABV is not noticeable in any capacity. Really refreshing on a hot day, and highly drinkable, medium body or not. Astronauts really got screwed having to take Tang into space instead of this number; my surprise great beer for the year so far.

Southern Tier Brewing Co. "2XTangier"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle, "DOB 06/15/17" and sampled on 07/25/17
$2 @ Weis Market, Conshohocken, PA
Notes via stream of consciousness: Great looking glass of beer. It's a clear deep golden body beneath a rocky head of just slightly off-white foam. The aroma displays a distinct note of orange over a sweetish malt base with some additional light spiciness thrown in. The flavor follows, and I almost find a mintiness with the orange. I get the orange first, and then the mint with it, and then the sweetish bready malt and then back to the mint and a bit of herbs going into the finish. It's also solidly bitter, clearly showing you that it's a double IPA but not going to the point that it's too harsh and dry and you end up with that "bitter beer face" that Keystone Light used to advertise. I wonder what the hops are in here? It's interesting for sure, and certainly unique. What's the alcohol here? 8.1% ABV? Ayyyeee! I don't find any alcohol though except for perhaps a feeling of it in the finish. It doesn't stand out on its own. Medium bodied and crisp. Definitely worth trying if you're both a fan of fruit beers and double IPAs.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a Pint glass
L: Cleary golden pour... 2 fingers of foamy white head. Nice lacing.
S: Tangerine... sweet citrus and fruit.
T/F: Light grains and sweet without a lot of malt character. The tangerine overwhelms the palate, but not in a terrible way. Sweet citrus... orange juice with some underlying floral notes and pepper. Bitterness is present but hidden. Light in body... warming with a bittersweet finish. heavy on the citrus.
O: For a tangerine DIPA it's better than most. It's a little sweet but this works pretty well for this brew. Refreshing and definitely a summer beer.

I was braced for something too orange, or too bulky (due to the tangerine puree and peels), but this was a juicy tangerine/orange/citrus-forward beer, medium-bodied, moderate carbonation, sugar-forward, and delicious.

Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a 12 oz bottle on July 19, 2017. Look is deep amber with a fluffy head and lingering lacing. Smell and taste is orange and bitter citrus with and a very nice balance of bitter hops and sweet malts. Feel is medium in body with a smooth finish.

Outstanding. This beer pours almost clear with only a couple big sea monkeys in there and it has used fruit puree. None of that was in the head which was cream colored and lush. Exemplary for the addition. Softly hazy overall. Nose is heady and rich with fruit peel which is dynamic. Its also got hop herbal and a nice sweetness that does back malt . No alcohol on the palate. A soft floral. Taste is wild with earthy tangerine peel. it also has a nice flavor form the puree that did not turn out too sweet. I think the sugar from the puree balances the west coast style malt which is a bit more sumptuous than usual. I also think that the bitterness from the tangerine peel and the hops bitter is perfectly balanced. SO for me the impeccable balance in the beer that makes it so drinkable at the abv of 8.1 % is the idea that the tangerine peel does not exceed either the malt or the sweetness. it's the malt that is deceptive as it is almost flavorless except for the way the sugar and the tangerine plays it. A bite from bubbles keeps it light too. I liked it very much!

Picked up at wegmans, DOB on bottle noted as 6.12.17:
Poured into grip shaped goblet: color is gold, head is bright white with fine bubbles, head laces the glass sides, lingers with a top.
Smell is light citrus rind, i guess thats tangerine, hint of biscuit malt.
Taste is bit citrus rind bitterness that is a bit more bitter than i anticipated - maybe its the age of the brew that has caused some unwanted bitter rind dominant flavors. Flavor finishes with lighter malt and hint of grassy hops.
Mouthfeel is moderate with some carbonation and lingering bitter dryness.
Overall an add take on the fruited hoppy beer with a strong bitter citrus rind aroma and flavor.

I recently had a few Tangiers, and now I am having a few of these 2x, and I think the 2x treatment is what this needed.
It's a nice, slightly cloudy with a tiny head. The aroma is weak but nice - hoppy.
The taste has a lot less of the fruit taste and tartness coming through than the single version, but it is all better balanced with the hoppy, malty big beer taste, giving it a lighter feel that it would otherwise have.
This is a big malty beer, to be sure, but it has a lighter feel. Highly recommended.

Poured a clear, copper body with one-finger head and lace ring around the glass. Tangerine and grapefruit dominate the aroma. Smooth, light bodied, the tangerine, along with some grapefruit, add a slightly acidic but overall really sweet taste to this beer that is easy to drink and thankfully not overly sweet/cloying as some hoppy goodness/bite comes through right on the backend.

12 FL. OZ. bottle
Served in a tulip glass
This beer pours amber with some golden highlights and a slight haze. It is topped with two inches of beige head that leaves decent lacing.
It has a citrus aroma with obvious tangerine peel.
It has a nice juicy, tangerine flavor. There is some bitterness in the finish.
Medium mouthfeel
This is a solid DIPA. I like the tangerine flavor and aroma. The alcohol is well hidden.

IMO this seems way better than the regular Tangier like more tangerine fruit juice. Not just a fruit based beer this has a ton of citrus and piney hops to keep it interesting. One of the better 2x beers I have had in a while!
