Inspired by the legendary Girl Scout cookie, Thick Mint joins our world-class rated Blackwater Series of dessert beers alongside Creme Brûlée, Choklat Oranj, Salted Caramel & Choklat in 2017. This imperial stout is a mouthful of perfectly balanced mint & chocolate. Roasty malts coalesce with notes of Belgian dark chocolate, sweet mint & just a touch of sweet caramel. So decadently delicious, you’ll wish you’d bought another box... er, bottle.

Imp. Milk stout.

A: Silky black roast coloring, slurps from the can with an motor oil viscosity. A dark peanut shell toned head is creamy, soft and cushy, like a pillowy cloud above providing a smooth covering at 1/4 inch, that lasted a good while. A great visual and exit , milky topping gives this a high visual regard.

S: Creamy girl scout mint cookies and fresh cream. A bit of sugar cookie spice, freshly cracked mint leaves and some dark rich chocolate as a base. Some graham cracker, as well, with a decent level of awareness.

T: Roasty flavor, dark, rich, silky with minty girl scout cookies. Fresh creamer and dark chocolate mix for a hearty base, with a nice bite of roasted coffee/chocolate on the swallow. Silky campfire ash lingers about, dark mineral and spicy birch. Some spicy coriander gives a bit of peppery flair along with some grains of paradise.

M: Silky smooth mouthful, thanks in part to the high creamy base and nitro. Roasty feel, playful on the tongue. Exceptionally smooth and silky.

O: Overall a great visual and aroma, loads of dark chocolate malt base and mint, along with a finishing mouthful that was exceptionally smooth and silky gives this high praise. If you are a big fan of mint cookies, and imperial milk stouts, then this is right up your alley. Campfire beer or a xmas dessert, you choose.

Midnight brown on liquid, persistent thin muted-beige foam.

Local market chain mint chocolate chip ice cream that you swear is better than "Great Value".

Ice cream disappears on forward sip, mellow on the mint; white chocolate with hint of agreeable bitter. Aftertaste, however, morphs into "better than 'Great Value'" again, dulling out overall.

Somewhere between a velvety leaf and true autumn. Maintains the quotient thereof.

Joy in this beer for those that want to remember the best qualities of a mint chocolate chip ice cream. To push any mentioned flavors beyond their distilled qualities is beyond the scope of this beer.

Year : 2017. Bottled 12/21 at 12:21 AM. This must be a sign. Poured into Crane snifter. $4.49 a bottle from Total Wine in Daytona Beach, FL. Was a $21.99 4 pack but they split it up for me (2 bottles) and gave me a discount.

If there's a beer any more shiny, I'd like to see it. Absolute polished black leather shine, I can see everything in the room in it - like a mirror. Head is a thin half finger of beige.

Aroma is dead-on Girl Scout's Thin Mints...how'd they do it? I'd bet you couldn't tell a difference if you had them side by side (maybe a touch more chocolate from the real thing, but it would take a discerning and critical nose).

Flavor hits with a rush of chocolate, then wafer cookie, then a strong soapy hop bitterness, and then a fresh leaf of mint. Forget about brushing (no, don't) because this brings the mint big time. Alcohol heat builds and then settles on the tongue, and grows more intense the more it is sipped.

Feel is slick, oily almost, with a moderate to heavy carbonation level, and alcohol heat with some real nice burning freshness at the end.

Overall, I think impressive is the word. It's not as tasty as it is impressive, mostly because of that nose. The soapy hop bitterness as usual (it plagues all of Southern Tier's dessert beers) is its downfall, but I notice it less here than I have in other beers. Overall, while in Florida it was a $21.99 4 pack, I think if you can get it on sale for $5 bucks or more cheaper, it's a good deal.

Look: Nearly black, opaque body with dark tank carbonation that consists of small, individual bubbles, lingers nicely, slighlty soapy appearance.
Smell: Minty, chocolatey, sugary, maybe a bit of coconut. Cookie.
Taste: Peppermint patty mintyness and sugar on the front, followed by by roasty chocolate on the back.
Feel: Thick, syrupy, creamy, smooth going down. Dessert like.
Overall: Excellent beer, would not hesitate to get another one. Powerful though.
