22oz bottle served fairly cold into an Upper Canada Brewing pint glass. Purchased while visiting in the US. Bottled March 1, 2016.

Appearance - clear and coppery coloured beer, poured and impressive finger and change of white head, nearly overflowing the glass. The head is fluffy and soft looking with impressive retention.

Smell - lots of hop presence, some citrus, some malt. Flowery, before some grapefruit, mandarin orange and lime come into play. A little pine too upon repeated sniffs.

Taste - mild bitterness, with some piney flavours as well and peppery flavours as advertised. A little lemon and lime with some sweetness as well. Reminiscent of half mandarin oranges and honeydew melon. Subtleties of caramel too. Complex and quite flavourful.

Mouthfeel - smooth with moderate body. Moderately high carbonation and drying finish. Good feel especially with the flavor profiles. Body is syrupy just a touch at the end.

Overall - Unearthly is a winner, a well constructed, flavourful but unique DIPA, with its sweet melon and pine resin flavours and aromas combined with some peppery aspects as a point of differentiation. Certainly worth a try and worth it's fairly hefty price tag.

A: [3.50] Sunset orange color. Forms a small 1/2 finger of offwhite head. The bottle lists the ABV (9.5%) and the date of birth (01/18/16).

S: [3.75] Lots of pine resin. Bread, crackers and biscuit.

T: [4.00] Peppery hop character up front. Scone type malt in the middle (dry and bit on the cloying side). Finishes with tart apple flavor.

M: [3.75] This is full bodied. Good carbonation. I am picking up a little heat from the 9.5% alcohol. The finish is tart and dry (the whole beer is dry).

O: [3.75] This beer is good. Not a straight hop bomb. It has malt backbone and some fruitiness on the finish. It has big mouthfeel and a decent nose. All around this is a solid beer. Next time I will drink it fresher (this is about 100 days old)

Pours a little flat. deep copper rust body, clean, .25 in head
Smooth sweet caramel malt base. Tingling rich overripe citrus, mango, passionfruit, some spice. Smells awesome
Apricot, peach syrup, mango, grapefruit, pine, very sweet. but the hops are there, a little bitter and one-note
A little syrupy and flat. maybe because its a 9.5% imperial, maybe because it was bottled almost 3 months ago
A great beer. Hop presence is a little sharp and uncomplex, doesn't concord with the rest of the flavors
