A: [3.50] Sunset orange color. Forms a small 1/2 finger of offwhite head. The bottle lists the ABV (9.5%) and the date of birth (01/18/16).

S: [3.75] Lots of pine resin. Bread, crackers and biscuit.

T: [4.00] Peppery hop character up front. Scone type malt in the middle (dry and bit on the cloying side). Finishes with tart apple flavor.

M: [3.75] This is full bodied. Good carbonation. I am picking up a little heat from the 9.5% alcohol. The finish is tart and dry (the whole beer is dry).

O: [3.75] This beer is good. Not a straight hop bomb. It has malt backbone and some fruitiness on the finish. It has big mouthfeel and a decent nose. All around this is a solid beer. Next time I will drink it fresher (this is about 100 days old)

Pours a little flat. deep copper rust body, clean, .25 in head
Smooth sweet caramel malt base. Tingling rich overripe citrus, mango, passionfruit, some spice. Smells awesome
Apricot, peach syrup, mango, grapefruit, pine, very sweet. but the hops are there, a little bitter and one-note
A little syrupy and flat. maybe because its a 9.5% imperial, maybe because it was bottled almost 3 months ago
A great beer. Hop presence is a little sharp and uncomplex, doesn't concord with the rest of the flavors

Nice smooth beer, without being overly hoppy. Smells more so than tastes. Very satisfying. Some crispness but some sweetness too. Good.

This came as part of a Southern Tier Super Pack (4 bottles each of 2XIPA, Gemini and Unearthly). Bottled on 12/31/15, 7:59 AM (they worked on New Years Eve?). Chilled in fridge to 39 degrees, allowed to sit for 10-15 minutes at room temp then poured into a large, stemmed wineglass.

Look: Hazy copper color with 1/2" off white head that dissipated fairly quickly, leaving a ring of foam and nice lacing.

Smell: Pine and grapefruit, dank floral hints

Taste: Grapefruit, orange peel, pine resin early then sweet and slightly metallic later. Hops are very dominant.

Mouthfeel: Creamy, full bodied, silky

Overall: Extremely good Imperial IPA. Even though the hops are the star here, there is a solid malt backbone, very well balanced. Despite the 9.5% ABV it doesn't come off as boozy tasting but a couple of these will test my limit.

Poured it all a pint and 6 oz bottle without a clear date into a big mug. Hazy orange, unfiltered look, almost opaque. Smell is alcohol, grain, some hops - kind of smells like an Arrogant Bastard. Taste is sort of similar too except with the obvious addition of a little more pine and citrus rind resins. Pretty strong at first, but as the beer opens up the flavor becomes one with your pallet. Slides that 9.5% alcohol in with ease. Easy drinker, lots of pine notes, a little sour finish. A great beer for sure, $10 is a little much but you are guaranteed to get pretty drunk drinking even one.
