Another very good offering from ST - this one seasonal so I had to get it while the gettin' was good...
The thing that sticks with me the most on this beer is the look - hazy with floating chunks of goodness. The smell was almost like orange juice with a mouthfeel that was full-bodied. The taste was full of oranges and a touch of grapefruit. Overall, a very good beer, one I will keep an eye out next season...

Per the website "Citrus Punch is a hazy, fruity imperial ale with clean flavors. Using the unique blend of blood orange, tangerine and grapefruit, it offers an elevated summertime drinking experience. At 8.5% ABV, it packs a serious right hook and follows up with a powerful flavor jab. Ale yeast with CTZ hops, mosaic hops and three varieties of malts" 30 IBU.
Pours out to a cloudy medium orange, los of fine sediment rolling in the carbonation. Murky. Forms a tall creamy off white head with superior retention and beautiful lacing. Carbonation is moderate, 2.5 carbs or so. The nose is very fruity, reminding me of Steigl Radler. Lots of orange juice and nods to grapefruit. Beautiful nose. No hop aroma, minimal yeast character in the nose. Mouthfeel is filling, smooth at first, creamy, then followed by a medium acidity. There is a VERY strong metallic character to the beer, even at first sip, and lasts through the aftertaste. It starts out nice with a strong citrus fruit character, then turns into a hot, boozy, fusel alcohol mess with a bitterness that is totally inappropriate to the style. You are basically left with a bitter, acidic boozy bitter metallic mess.
This is just terrible. I think this is the first beer I've had from Southern Tier that just totally sucks. It's a drain pour. This was not well thought out. If you're going to brew an imperial Wit (or american fruited wheat), it needs to be fermented cleanly, with minimal bitterness and enough residuals so that it's not bone dry or overly sweet. Hard pass.

12oz bottle into a pint glass. Bottled 4/10/19, so closing in on 2 months old.
Poured carefully, as there appeared to be a lot of stuff in the bottom of the glass. Nice looking slightly hazy medium yellow body. Small white head dissipates to a ring and faint covering. No lacing.
Very light aroma of oranges.
However, the taste is STRONGLY of oranges. Not unpleasant or artificial, but it's the only real flavor that comes through m. There is some warmth from the abv.
Mouth medium, finish oranges.
Overall, while not unpleasant, it's certainly a one dimensional beer. Maybe some age would soften the assault a bit. Can't imagine more than one of these at a time.

A - Dark opaque orange colored with micro-thin white lacing.
S - Pungent tangy citrus and orange aroma, 'smells like fruit juice.
T - Lots of of juicy orange citrus throughout and ends with a lingering citrus bitterness with some wheat character on the very back end.
M - Thick body with lots of gentle pricklies.
O - More like fruit juice than beer but the 8.5% is very well hidden.

From the label: "DOB04/10/19 12:08PM"
Appearance: The body of the beer is completely opaque. It has a light beige and dull gold colored body with a white colored head. The head is short and fluffy with decent retention.
Aroma: It has a nice blood orange scent.
Taste: There is a lot of citrus character up front. It tastes like bitter orange peel, grapefruit pulp, and there is a lot of blood orange flavor. There is a touch of wheat character at the beginning, but it is outpaced by the massive citrus character. It takes a palate cleanser to get that wheat character back. There is an alcoholic finish to the beer.
Mouthfeel: It feels very thick and smooth on the palate. There is a touch of bitterness to the beer and a light bit of warmth.
Overall: This is a seasonal beer and it feels a bit heavy for a Spring or Summer beer. This would be an awesome beer to enjoy during the Fall. All things considered, I really enjoyed it and I would drink it again. I would recommend it to people who want a citrus-forward beer that has a lot of body.
