Choklat is every bit a dessert beer, encompassing the complexity of the darkest, bittersweet candy together with that of the original frothy beverage. We combine the finest ingredients to tempt your senses & renew the power & interrelation of history in every bottle.
Cacao is a mystical bean. We're not surprises that ancient hieroglyphs depict chocolate being poured for rulers & gods.

22 oz. into a snifter/ no freshness date
P: Dark rosy brown from the bottle, and opaque in the glass aside from a few trickles of light that slip through the edges. Even with a vigorous pour there was hardly any head at all, just a paper thin halo on top.
A: Ummmm...chocolate, loads of it. Like bitter-sweet Belgian dark chocolate that smells really rich & creamy. Also, some roasted malts, caramel, and alcohol manage to fight their way through the chocolate mob in order to get noticed.
T: Wow! This is a chocolate stout that really delivers on what the name promises. No subtlety to be found here. This is an all-out, in-your-face, chocolate explosion capable of satisfying even the most vicious sweet tooth. There's a couple of different elements of chocolate going on. Upfront, it's the very rich, dark Belgian chocolate. The layor underneath is of creamy, savory fudge that is gently slathered across the tongue in tantalizing fashion. Buried deep is a faint perception of cacao powder to round it out. All of this delicious chocolateyness is draped over roasted caramel malts, a twinge of molasses, and some well-hidden booze that is present but never intrudes. I also seem to get a slightly citrusy undercurrent from the hops, which works well. The chocolate aftertaste just lasts forever!!!
M & D: Mouthfeel is just perfect. Full-bodied, thick & chewy, rich & decadent, and syrupy smooth. Drinkability is good, as I am a certified chocolate lover. But, it is even too sweet for me to have any more.
Notes: This is by far the best chocolate stout that I've ever had. Finally, someone delivers a huge, unbridled brilliant chocolate flavor in a big beer! While there is a boatload of chocolate, there's also enough complimentary flavors to keep it from getting too overwhelming. I love it! Highly recommended

650 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 11.0%. Pitch black colour, moderate creamy tan head. Intense aroma of cocoa / chocolate. The flavour has also loads of chocolate and cocoa, but the sweetness is not too extreme. Also some roasted coffee notes. A moderate hoppy bitterness in the finish (Chinook and Willamette) balances some of the chocolate sweetness. Very drinkable for an 11% beer. I had no problem finishing the bottle - but if you hate chocolate, this is clearly not a beer for you.

I've had many opportunities to drink Choklat Oranj and really liked it. Had this one for a few years and thought a snowy Christmas would be a good time to drink it. Really hits the spot. I guess it could be a dessert beer but when its freezing outside and the snow is blowing it'll do. Looks like motor oil with very little head. Just like an imperial stout should. With my diminished sense of smell I get chocolate (imagine that) and malt. Can't decide if its milk chocolate, bittersweet or what but definitely chocolate. Taste is the star here. Chocolate of course but I don't think its too sweet. Nice clean finish I could drink it for dessert but it's fine in front of the fire in the dead of winter. Mouthfeel is almost perfect. Slightly thick, smooth as silk and just about right. Overall, a really good imperial stout. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be available any longer but should it pop up again i'm definitely getting another bottle or two
