Pours pitch black with a small dark tan head that dissipates completely. No lacing. Smells abundantly of rich milk and dark chocolate, some roasted hazelnut, and a bit of alcohol. Decadent flavor follows with chocolate being clearly dominant (not just a clever name), toasted nuts, and a cotton candy like sweetness then ends with some alcohol and bitter dark chocolate. Feel is very thin, low carbonation, and flip flops the spectrum from sweet to bitter and back again with each sip. Alcohol warmth closes it out. Overall, this is an outstanding chocolate imperial stout, and a pleasure to enjoy for dessert, especially out of a fine martini glass. Cheers!

Great smooth taste with a strong finish. The taste is not indicative of the "Imperial" name. However, a couple of these 10% ABV and you will feel it. I would highly recommend.

Black, viscous body with a light tan, creamy, dense head. The nose displays powdered chocolate, milk chocolate, caramelized brown sugar, brownies, and more powdered chocolate. Dope. The flavor expands a bit, still putting powdered and milk chocolate first, but incorporating roasty malt, some lactose sweetness, roasted malt bitterness, and mild background acidity. There is SO much chocolate going on, mostly the almost-artificial Nesquik (TM) variety, but ends up authentic and with good richness and prominent but not unopposed sweetness. it's tempting to get hypnotized by the amount of rich chocolate going on here, but there are other, beer-y, flavors going on if the drinker chooses to seek them out. The body is heavy but could still be heavier, with fine and restrained carbonation.
The definitive beer about chocolate. Sure, there are some that offer it in a purer method, as in through malts alone, but those can't touch what this one has achieved. As with lightning never striking twice turning out to be BS, so does one brewery not being able to produce multiple delicious stylized dessert beers: ST Creme Brulee has its twin.

This beer is rich, kind of bitter, and absolutely brings the full force of its chocolate flavor, but man is it smooth as you finish it. If you're not a stout person (I'm not), it may be hard to drink an entire pint (I had it with a flight), but what I did have was very encouraging.

22 ounce bottle poured to snifter
black, dark amber on edges, brown foam that slowly goes away
fragrant, chocolate, roasted nuts and fruity
medium bitterness
long good bitter finish, bitter sweet aftertaste, no sudden drop
excellent beer ok to repeat, look for a bit expensive
