From the 22 oz bomber in a snifter. This beastly brew pours a rugged
coal black with a quickly dissipating head of light tan foam that settles
to a thin ring and subtle lacing. Nose of bakers chocolate, subtle charred
dark malts, coffee, and medium strong booze. Flavors exceed the nose with
strong booze laden dark chocolate candy that is lightly touched by cream
and caramel with light char notes settling on the back with a zesty herbal
hop bitterness to bring it all together. Excellent mouth feel; low carbonation,
creamy, smooth, and warming with a bitter malt and warming booze finish.

Excellent---look forward to this every year.

Cheers

Poured from a 22 oz bottle, into a Cigar City snifter.

Thin khaki head that dissolves quickly.Black in color, with the slightest hint of light coming through the bottom of the glass.Moderate carbonation.

On the nose I get mostly rich dark chocolate, and booze...smells like bourbon or brandy. Some dark roasted coffee, and some roasted malts as well.I get some caramel also.As the beer warmed, the booziness went away. The nose is actually very pleasant once warmed to the intended temperature.

On the palate I get rich dark chocolate, sweet milk chocolate, dark roasted coffee, roasted malts, and some bitter hops. The taste is pretty bitter,a little more hops than I like in my stouts.

The body is medium,a little thinner than I like my doubles/imperials.You gets some fizzle on the tongue from the hops, and the carbonation. The finish is dry.

Overall this isn't a terrible Imperial stout, just not a go to for me.Its alot better than their choklat oranj for sure. The smell is nice, but in my opinion the palate didn't do the nose justice. In my personal opinion,a little too much dark chocolate, and hops.

Drank on Co2 from a snifter. Pours a nice dark black and smells of Dark chocolate. Tastes like melting a piece of Dark chocolate on your tounge. Is a bit thin, but wow is this fun beer!!

Bottled 9/28/16

Pours coca color with light tan head.

Bakers cocoa aroma with a touch of booze. Reminds me of chocolate syrup.

Taste is big semi-sweet chocolate and some bitterness. Dark chocolate flavors continue thru and thru. Definitely the most chocolate forward beer I've ever had but then again, it's to no surprise.

Feel is medium bodied with lower amount of carbonation. Roasted malt Bitterness linger a tad. Wish this was just a bit heavier.

I didn't like their Creme Brûlée too much so I wasn't sure how this would turn out. It's really good and although it is heavy on the chocolate, it takes it just far enough without overdoing it. It carries some bitterness to help offset.

All I have to say is damn good chocolate stout. I put it up there with Rogue's Double Chocolate Stout. Tons of chocolate, a little vanilla bean, nut, and malt. It doesn't have that syrup added taste like their Creme Brûlée beer, although that one is really good also.

Poured into a goblet 9/28/16 bottle date

A- Pours a fully opaque black color with a 1/2 inch light brown head that retains well before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a large center patch of sheer surface foam. Semi-resilient lacing leaves small clots behind.

S- Smells like straight unicorn blood syrup covered in crumbled walnuts.

T- Fudge, hot chocolate, malted milk balls. All the decadent chocolate notes are there with minimal alcohol flavor considering the ABV. There's also some caramel, vanilla, peanut brittle and a hint of coffee. Bitter roast aftertaste. The sweetness is definitely there the whole way through the glass but it never gets too overbearing (for my taste at least).

M- Creamy and luscious with medium-low carbonation and the fullest of bodies.

O- The ultimate chocolate dessert beer. You have to like sweet stuff to appreciate it but, if you do, you definitely want this. Other worldly.

22 oz bomber poured into my Central Waters snifter while on vacation in Wisconsin.

Deep dark obsidian black with a beige-brown 2 finger head. 100% opaque. Beautiful.

Smells like Hershey's syrup, very old Krackle bar, and slight metal.

Oh. This could have been so much better. It starts with a milisecond of chocolate and chocolate milk, but then it gets washed out by a burning, boozy flavor - vodka - that wrecks the whole thing. There's a touch of lactose, and heavy charred roast notes at the finish, with more of the boozy hotness. Leaving it on the palate a good ten seconds lifts some of those chocolate notes, but the boozy hottness is almost too much here. I'll give it a decent score here because there is character...it's just buried.

Feel is great, it's nice and thick without being chewy, but yes, very hot, and semi-dry on the finish.

Overall, somehow i knew it was too good to be true that Chokolat was like a Chocolate Bar in Stout form, and I was right. I'll continue the search. Perhaps I got a bad bottle, but for those that are exclaiming too much sweetness...how did you find it beneath the alcohol?
