Style: American Double / Imperial Stout

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 10.00%

Notes / Commercial Description:
As scientists, our brewers utilize their materials to exacting standards. As artists, they couldn’t resist the temptation to combine two of our highly acclaimed Blackwater Series Imperial Stouts: Jahva and Choklat. Alone each is perfect, but together as Mokah they are an inimitable expression of two of the world’s most sought after flavors. Enjoy Mokah stout with – or as – your favorite dessert!

Tasted in a 10 oz snifter from draft at Half Day Brewing on May 6, 2016. Look is dark brown with a thick tan head and lingering lacing. Smell is cocoa powder and coffee with dark roasted malt aromas. Taste is cocoa and hints of coffee with dark roasted malt flavors.

2015 vintage
~ 1 year since bottling date

Appearance- Pours a black color, opaque. Half finger thick, medium tan colored head, frothy and creamy. Slight alcohol legs and head lacing.

Aroma- Bittersweet chocolates, cocoa, chocolate syrup. Spicy coffee bean, roasted malt, and toasted marshmellow.

Taste- Dark chocolates, roasted coffee, spicy coffee bean. Fudgy chocolate syrup, dry cocoa. Caramel, vanilla, marshmellow creaminess.

Feel- Medium feel, sweet and creamy. Moderate carbonation.

Overall- Coffee seems to have come more forward with age. In previous tastings the chocolate almost seemed to cover up, but now a nice roasty coffee quality has come forward more. Still has a good amount of chocolate, but its in nice balance with the coffee. Beer has aged well.

A pretty good dessert stout. Coffee isn't as strong as I thought it would be, but the chocolate comes through. I won't run to the store for another, but wouldn't pass it up if offered another.

If you like chocolate flavored stouts, this is the one for you. It is screaming of dark chocolate. It's one dimensional but its soooo tasty in the chocolate flavors. This is what I like in a stout. Enjoyed greatly.
