Poured into a clear beer stein. Fair carbonation with a thick head that dissipates rather quickly. A shiny orange color that's quite hazy exists. The aroma obviously reeks of spicy hops and is accompanied by a piney fragrance as well, along with a sweet orange peel smell too. Upon taste, citrus flavors rush the mouth very delicately and the hoppy bitterness soon follows. Feels somewhat light in the mouth and doesn't have much texture however.

Very fantastic.

Poured bright clear orange color with a fluffy head that dissipated quickly. Aroma is clearly hoppy, taste is well balanced and full of bright piney, citrus complex hop flavors. As it is a double IPA there's a kick of alcohol but it doesn't come off as overly boozy. I Really like this double.

Southern Tiers 2XIPA has become a long standing classic that IPAs are compared to. If you don't like the Aroma and Taste of 2XIPA you just don't like IPAs. Way to keep cranking out great beers Southern Tier. Cheers.

Southern Tier has to be one of my favorite breweries and the 2XIPA never disappoints. Awesome hop flavor that never gets old no how many 2XIPAs you have. Put me down as a big fan.

Pours a beautiful clear yellow to amber with a fluffy white head that laces very well. Smells of pine and citrus with a hint of sweet and simple crackery malt and even a touch of honey. Smells like my kind of DIPA. Taste follows with a bit more sweetness than expected l, making this an almost perfectly balanced double IPA. Lots of pine, and a lot of the sweet flavor seemingly coming from the citrus of the hops. As I've said, exceptionally well balanced, medium carbonation, and would never have guessed it weighs in at 8.2%. Overall, this is an outstanding DIPA, and would gladly have it as a constant in my fridge. Cheers!

12oz bottle dated 9/13/16 poured into a snifter.

8.2% ABV, 80 IBU

I bought a six pack of this DIPA on a recent trip without checking the bottling date. Southern Tier's freshness guide gives 2XIPA a six month shelf life. The first of the sixer was consumed one day before the six month mark. The rest were consumed after with no change detected.

This double IPA pours a crystal clear deep honey/gold color with a small white head. Retention and lacing are both decent.

A very aromatic beer, 2XIPA gives notes of citrus, along with floral scents, tropical mango, pineapple, and some pine.

Taste follows the nose with big citrus up front, a solid malt backbone and good hop bitterness. Alcohol is masked delightfully.

Mouth feel is medium bodied, crisp, with higher carbonation. Easy drinking for a higher ABV brew.

Overall, this is a top notch DIPA, holding strong at 6+ months. I'd love to snag more of this fresh!

Poured from a chilled 12oz bottle into a goblet.
L - Poured a slightly hazy copper color. Limited head that quickly dissipated into a spotty lace.
S - A nice subdued citrus aroma.
T - Drinks extremely well for a 8%ABV. Citrus dominated, but crisp with good hop balance. Finishes off nicely with the tiniest bit of alcohol heat.
F - Slick and well balanced with out being overly cloying.
O - Top notch beer. Another homer from ST.

Look: gold with a white head strong carbonation
Smell: pine, grapefruit
Taste: pine, grapefruit hybrid, a little hint of malt into the middle then the hops hit again at the end
Feel: the carbonation is strong on this beer
Overall: decent double ipa, tastes like it smells. Would I buy again, yes this is a solid double ipa, not a session ipa.
