Looks like an ordinary blonde beer, a commonplace lager. No big deal. But appearance is nothing for a beer. Wonderful floral bouquet. Taste starts with citrus while pine is in background. But that taste lasts a long time. I love double and imperial IPAs and this is simply one of the very best. Stay away if you do not want a big, albeit not too complex IPA.

2XIPA | Southern Tier Brewing Company. Poured from the bottle into a snifter, this brew's head is two fingers thick and off-white, with sheen lacing, and a clear medium-light amber body.

Smells like a nice, pungent haymaker of citrus and pine hops.

I taste a decently bitter profile with mid-palate citrus sweetness that stays til the end; all while being supported and balanced by a malt foundation akin to Townhouse crackers.

The mouthfeel here is medium with mild carbonation.

Overall, I'll rate 2XIPA | Southern Tier Brewing Company with a 4.5. I kind of was expecting a little more to the flavor, but this is still a very good DIPA nonetheless.

Poured into tulip from tap, 1/2 inch cream colored head. Dark golden/amberish in the glass, crystal clear to look at. Smells of caramel and pineapple. Taste caramel sweetness on the front then the mango and pineapple show up, nice sweet finish and great mouthfeel.

Not a big IPA guy, but this is made about an hour from here. Wow! Had it in a bottle and bought a case as soon as I was finished. In bottles the 2X is great, but on tap is better. Found it on tap at a local biker bar and now I'm part of the breathern!! Again, I'm a lager guy, but this beer gives me faith in the younger beer drinking generation!!!!!

Mostly clear, gold beer with a billowy white head that fades quickly but leaves the glass covered in lacing. The aroma is orange, pine, sweet malt and bread. The taste is mildly sweet with a great citrus taste and a nice piney and pithy bitterness at the end. The bitterness is aggressive but doesn't overpower the beer. Really nice DIPA that balances the sweet and bitter and hides the booze well.

I dig this beer. It has a distinct grapefruit taste, amplified when had on tap.

Pours a hazy golden color with a modestly sized head. A delightful amount of visible carbonation as well.

Smells of citrusy hops, I get a bunch of lemon in particular. Quite sweet overall.

This is a deliciously subtle IPA. There is not a lot of bitterness to contrast the sweet citrus, but what is here is straightforward, drinkable, and most excellent. Mouthfeel is surprisingly light, with a very satisfying degree of carbonation.

Southern Tier is a brewery that continues to impress me with their offerings and quality - though I'm not an IPA-guy by any stretch I do appreciate when I come across one of very good quality.

Out of the glass it pours a clear amber color, very bright and very clean, good head and very good lacing down the glass. The mouthfeel was for the most part okay, but smooth nonetheless. The smell that touched my nose was very citrusy with a sweetness of something I couldn't put my finger on. The taste was absolutely the same - great plus in my book - sweet, citrusy and all around good considering it was a "times two" IPA. Overall, this was a surprisingly great beer from a brewer that has yet to disappoint.

16 oz can canned 5/31/16 poured into a tulip. Had this a few times before, never got around to reviewing it. First DIPA in a while (is a couple weeks considered a while?). It pours a clear orange with a half finger white head. The smell is of orange citrus, dark fruit, and malt/dough notes. The taste follows suit, with some back end grassy bitterness and some tangerine flavors. The mouthfeel is medium heavy, with the carbonation medium trending toward medium low. Definitely a well made 2XIPA, but I am unsure where it sits in this crowded field.
