Nicked from my daughter's fridge in D.C. and poured into a red Solo "chalice" (helping her move and all the glasses were packed!). Pours a beautiful reddish gold with a nice, full off-white head. First taste hits all the hops notes...pine, citrus, grapefruit. Plenty of bitterness but certainly enough malt to make it a reasonably balanced beer. I would call this better than most DIPAs I have had. Later we picked up some Labatt's Blue as a lawnmower/furniture moving quaff and the previous beer made the Blue seem even more insipid than usual. Glad to see this beer here in Texas now.

Golden color with little head. Nose of slight citrus, pine, and a bit bready. Taste lemon, pine, tangerine, with a little grapefruit and malt. Clean finish but still lingers on the palate. Not as hippy as I thought being a double IPA but quite pleasant for what it is. Good with spicy food.

Been drinking this more when I go out and it is served. The color is a nice bright gold with decent carbonation. It has a very nice hoppy smell and for whatever reason the taste makes it go down easy. Feel is good with a clean crisp finish. Overall a easy to drink IPA with a bit higher than average ABV due to the 2X.

A: [4.25] Beer is almost totally transparent with a slight chill haze. It has a golden straw color and forms 1 finger of white head. The bottle lists the ABV at 8.2% and there is a date of birth (01/21/16).

S: [3.25] Getting more malt notes than hop notes initially. Caramel, toffee then lemon pith and peaches.

T: [2.50] Assertive hop bitterness up front. This is a hop bomb. My sense of taste is having trouble picking out notes due to the blaring bitterness up front. I am getting lemon rind, and lots of spicy hop notes. There is almost no malt backing it up.

M: [3.00] The carbonation is relatively low and the body is above medium. Lots of bitterness on the finish.

O: [3.00] Not my favorite IPA. I waited a long time for this one and got it pretty fresh. The brew seems out of balance to me. Way too much on the hops and bitter and no malts to balance it out. This is not my favorite DIPA or Southern Tier beer (by a lot).

Golden hoppy brew that is on the lighter side. This drink is refreshing and its citrusy, floral notes make this a great warm weather brew in my opinion.

Light Amber pour with small head. A smell of hops with hints of citrus follows. A bitter hoppiness for taste, but subtle for a double IPA. For a double IPA it's rather light and drinkable, but still filling.

Poured from a bottle with no visible date, gold opaque color with a fantastic, soft, bubbly foam and cool lacing. Smell is very clean and straight citrus, with just a little spicy zest on top. Taste is directly proportionate; a sunshine-y citrus mouthful with a zesty, bitter, dry finish. Beer hides it alcohol well and gets danker as it warms a tad. Very medium bodied, hardy drink, going down a little more slowly perhaps than some of the same style I've recently tried. A little carbonated, and slightly pale or grainy tones come to light as you drink on. Extremely refreshing, easy to drink, balanced, and outstanding flavors. I'm impressed and I've been trying a lot of these types of beers lately. Very good job.

APPEARANCE - Light, clear, carbonation, lacing, head retention.

AROMA/SCENT - Hops, floral, fruit, floral, sweet.

TASTE - Hops, bitter, bread, pine.

MOUTHFEEL/PALATE/TEXTURE - Carbonation, very dry, lingering, astringent, effervescent, clean, light.

VALUE - $8 for $16 oz. Good deal.

OVERALL/DRINKABILITY - Simple, straightforward double; not sweet, so bitterness comes through.

1/20....pours bright light gold, some white foam on top. Light ring of foam. Little apple pine nose with citrus. Strong but mellow bitter, folded into a sweet malt. Lemon citrus pops. Real mellow for a high powered IPA.

Draft in tulip glass. Pours a slightly hazy light amber with an eggshell white head. Initial impression is citrus and pine, nicely balanced by slight malt sweetness. Medium mouthfeel and carbonation. Slightly sticky. Alcohol well disguised. Very tasty!

12oz bottle dated 10/1/15 poured into a tulip on 2/8/16

Look: Dark-straw colored and transparent. Poured a half-finger of off-yellow head that dissipated fairly quickly. Sparse lacing. Easily roused to a large, fluffy head with agitation.

Smell: Smells like hay and fresh-cut grass. Very earthy. A bit of spice too. Some citrus upon warming

Taste: Hoppy but not really bitter. Pine and resin, but not aggressively so. Fairly substantial malt for balance. Nothing noteworthy; all pretty standard.

Feel: Moderate carbonation. Feels pretty full and frothy. Refreshing finish, not dry or crisp.

Overall: Probably one of the least noteworthy beers I've had recently. Not bad by any means, but I feel like I've had this beer many times before, just with different names. There's better stuff out there that's just as accessible.

This beer drinks like two at once. I taste the hops right away and finishes with a smooth malty flavor. Very little after taste for that initial IPA punch.

Picked up a single from Craft Beer Hop Stop on Veterans Day for $1.99. DOB is 10/1/15.

Beer poured golden with a nice white head that is leaving lacing and has some nice hang time.

Nose has hints of citrus flowers.

Taste is citrusy, piney, and fresh. Very light for a 8.2% beer.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and refreshing.

Overall this is a very nice beer at a reasonable price. I am definitely having this in the future!

Look: Golden, very clear. Faint reddish hue, although if you don't look too carefully it could easily be mistaken for a Big Beer pilsner.

Smell/Taste: Floral grapefruit. Classic DIPA flavor. Smooth. Hoppy but not very bitter.

Feel: Liquid

Overall: Very solid, if standard, double IPA. Distinct floral, fruity notes. Smooth. Has that grapefruit verging on mango flavor all my favorite IPAs have. Reminds of my all around favorite DIPA, Great Lakes Chillwave.

Pours with almost no head. Flavor is nothing like I have ever had before. To be honest, I was not that wild about it. But I am glad I at least tried it.

Overall a very good Double IPA. Nothing particularly noteworthy, but solid. Smooth and easy to drink which could permit that ABV to creep up on you. Thumbs up.

The appearance is nearly identical to their single IPA, being amber gold with a beige head that is shorter and has less lace.

Smell and taste are similar to the single as well, with citrus and toffee, but 2X is little more catty, garlicky and dank, with some lemon rind still present.

Slightly frothy.

Generically bitter hops + malt + booze = your run-of-the-mill DIPA these days. Very little actual flavor from the hops, lotta pale malt alcohol... What's the point of beers like this?

Poured into IPA glass. The color is a hazy golden-orange with a thin white head and lacing. The smell features floral hops, orange, grapefruit, and pine. The taste is fairly fruity with a burst of bitter hops. There's also a faint sweet caramel. This is a nicely carbonated, refreshing East Coast IPA. The 8.2% ABV is not overpowering. It has enough sweetness that a non-hophead can enjoy it.

Whatcha see? Light clear golden body, streaming bubbles, and a creamy white head that dissipates over time with decent lacing. Whatcha smell? Sweet toasted malts, sweet smelling citrus, orange first, grapefruit second, and maybe a little earthy pine. Mouth feel is smooth, creamy, carbonated, and finishes a little slick. Drinkability is through the roof. Alcohol is non-detectable. Whatcha think? This is my new favorite IPA, I know it's a double but it's beat the old gold standard for me, which is goose island IPA. I will keep this around as much as possible. Great Job Southern Tier!

Poured on tap into a shaker pint. Amber with a slight haze, foamy head that receded immediately.

Nose is pine and fruit, a bit of the sweet from the alcohol comes through.

Flavor is more on the fruity side of the IPA spectrum than the floral. Not overly complex but nice and without any glaringly jagged edges.

This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a bronzed orange color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute. Light trickling lacing roamed around the glass nicely.
The smell had a sweet to bitter grapefruit to bitter citrus rind playing nicely with some caramel malts.
The taste was mainly about the sweet and the bitter hops up front. The caramel malts do play a gentle caramel underlay to try and balance. There's a slight lingering citrusy to caramel aftertaste running into the finish.
The mouthfeel was about a light to medium on the body with a good almost sessionable sort of feel but I find myself sipping this one. I'm guessing its the ABV, so that there 8.2 % is hitting nicely.
Overall, really nice DIPA that I can see myself having again.

Pours a hazy deep gold producing 2 fingers of off-white, frothy & variously bubbled, somewhat lasting head that leaves a nice pasty wash of frost like lace. Aroma is heavenly tropical, floral & citrus hoppy backed by caramel malt & with a thin vanilla like hint & faint butterscotch. Taste is juicy tropical fruit & citrus (tangerine & Clementine) hops backed by a wet caramel sweetness. Finishes tropical/caramel sweet with citrus & a hint of pine with a low level hop bite & bitterness that intensifies & lingers for a while in the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is medium-heavy bodied with moderate carbonation, wet & juicy, mouth filling with a mid-sip prickle that last beyond the swallow. GREAT.
