2XPerimental has a thick, egg-shell colored, creamy foam, with a translucent orange-gold appearance and heavy lacing. The aroma is of mint, white wheat bread, and some sort of fruit. The flavor is of spicy bread crust, a touch of mint, white wheat bread, and mild bitterness. 2XPerimental has a high-medium body and a drying finish.

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of melons, some citrus. Taste follows the aroma, some alcohol is present, moderate bitterness. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer.

Purchased a 12 pack of multiple dipas from Souther Tier. I was excited to try this west coast dipa. This beer is average at best. Looks and smells fantastic but the happiness and taste isn't what I expected. I will finish the other two that came in the 12 pack but won't seek this beer out. This is your average ipa....cause it's not happy enough to be a dipa

I think I had one or more of these in a previous year. My son liked this one more than the others in the 2x sampler (I preferred the hazy and the original).

This one opens a pretty golden with fine head. It is nearly clear. The aroma is a hoppy and malty affair but not real strong. The taste is a bit dark (the lightest shade of dark) and boozy with plenty of malty taste coming through. I think it should be cleaner and fresher.

Recommended, but get the regular 2xIPA for a creamier taste or 2xHazy for a juicy taste. I prefer either of those and these ratings may be a little high.

Poured into a grip shaped goblet: color is gold, head is off white and presents 1/2 finger thick, head then dissipates to thin top and ring along glass sides, some lacing.

Smell is odd with notes of burnt sugar, citrus, caramel, grapenut like malt note.

Taste is similar with citrus, pepper, earth, grapenut, light caramel - it just comes together oddly. I used to be excited/seek out ST IPAs and this one does disappoint.

Mouthfeel is low/moderate carbonation, low/moderate sweetness, moderate bitterness.

Overall - an odd tasting IPA, especially coming from ST.

Pours a foggy gold, decent white head, a bit of lacing. Aroma of citrus rind and some hops, taste follows but it seems "musty". Creamy mouthfeel excellent carbonation. One and done.

Pours a light ckear amber. Light foam. Hoppy aroma. Big hop body. Tastes a little muddled. Somewhat soapy. Slight bitter finish. A little tangy. Not really the best experiment. Better get back in the lab.

BB date : 8/5/22. Let warm for fifteen minutes, before opening.

Barely-hazy orangey-gold, with two fingers of ivory head, that leaves thin streaks of lacing.

Smell is orange rind, initially somewhat sharp, becoming more marmalade-like as the head fades. Slight resiny pine and a touch of biscuity malt also become apparent as the head draws down.

Taste is also mostly orange, but not like the aroma. A bit difficult to describe, as I don't think I've ever encountered this exact taste. Mandarin, &/or blood orange, but past its prime, maybe even a after a partial freeze? Also some of the pine and malt present in the aroma, but more muted. Light orange rind bitterness lingers after.

Feel is medium , smooth, slightly creamy, with moderate, very fine carbonation, that give a little bite at finish.

Overall, this is odd, and a bit muddled. Looks good, feels good, taste is part weird, part missing . That said, it could grow on me, IF somebody gave it to me. ;) I won't be seeking it out again for myself. After having the first two colder, I'd definitely advise letting it warm up to 50F +/- , at least. This one is much better than the previous two. :) If I had rated it cold(ish) , it'd probably be ~ .50 lower.

From a 12oz can dated best by 8/5/22 into a pint glass.

Pours a translucent amber with about three fingers of white head. Decent retention, ok lacing.

Smells very lightly of citrus and a hint of pineapple.

Tastes are faint as well. Getting a hint of sweet citrus in the taste and a mixture of pine and alcohol.

Light, slightly sticky mouthfeel. Not much aftertaste. Low carbonation.

If the experiment was to make a boring beer, this was a success. It's drinkable, but not much going on here. Move along...
