The beer comes in a dark brown/black with a khaki head.

The aroma is just intoxicating. It's very Pumking and all up in your face. It has this very sweet pumpkin pastry note along with a bit of spice, but really that creamy, buttery breadiness. It has one of the best pumpkin beer aromas.

The flavor follows with a hit of pumpkin pie in the front along with love of cinnamon, clove. It's less pumpkin and more about the buttery crust flavor. The exciting note is that it hits with this a earthy bitterness on the end.

This really is one of the best pumpkin beers around. Get this!

Southern Tier Warlock Imperial Stout brewed with Pumpkins
Pour: A thick black with no head to it. And Chocolate rim of bubble that stays the whole time. Has good legs to it.
Smell: Very similar to Pumking, you get the gram cracker, vanilla, nutmeg and hint of Chocolate.
Taste: It tastes very similar to Pumking. It is smooth For a stout, with a nice chocolate finish with no coffee hint at all like you get with most stouts. As the beer warms up the flavor's open up more.
Ending: I think ST has them selves a home run with this one. At 8.6 ABV you do feel it. I did Black and Tan it with a Pumking and it was okay. Worth trying once but I wouldn't do it again.

Pure dark beer in a glass far away from any other pumpkin ale I've tried the Warlock is bringing out something special. Dark roast complements the dark ale so much it's a beer I can't go wrong with, totally big rich layers of alcohol with dark roasted malt in each sip. Hop burps don't even count I'm getting burps full of complex pumpkin spice with this beer. Dark chocolate creamy textured flavor full of Pumking notes with pie crust, sugar, spice, I call it the circus peanut flavor profile. It's an excellent flavor profile I can't hate on it at all, great flavors dark roasted malts go down great. Mouthfeel is bitter dry, very nice smooth chocolate note compared with pumpkin pie spices. Overall a beer I dream about, excellent stuff I can't wait to get more of the Warlock.

22 ounce bottle, bottled on 08/26/13. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch light tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like pumpkin spices, pumpkin, roasted malt, and some chocolate. Taste is similar to the aroma, it tastes like pumpkin spices, pumpkin, nuts, roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate, lactose and a bit of coffee. I think the pumpkin/spice flavors are stronger than the roasty stout ones, but there's enough balance between those flavors that makes this an interesting beer to drink. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's creamy and coating with moderate carbonation. I thought this was pretty good, hopefully Southern Tier will make this again next year! $8.99 a bomber.

Bomber, slightly chilled, poured into a duvel tulip

A - Pours a dark brown, almost black. Lots of fluffy, mocha head, fades to a slight ring.

S - Smell is pie crust, pumpkin spice, cocoa

T - Basically pumpkin pie topped with a drizzle of dark chocolate and a side of coffee to wash it down.

M - smooth, medium bodied, easy drinking

O - Pumking with a little bit extra, which I like. Doesn't quite replace Pumking for me, as I think both are very good in their own right, but quite good nonetheless. I'll stock up on both this year.
