Eh.... Had sample from tap at their new location in Pittsburgh. Granted we had already had the Mokah and Choklat prior to this sample. Nothing excited me about this one. Maybe if I had this one by itself.

A- black with a light tan head and half finger head. quite opaque as well.

S- roasted malt with sweet milk/cream smell.

F- light roasted malt with sweet cream/milk flavor.

M- creamy and medium bodied stout that is sweet in the mouth and goes down smooth.

O- a good milk stout. The malt isnt overbearing as in some stouts but the sweetness complements it very well.

Poured a very dark brown with 2 finger tan milkshake head. Moderate lacing. Malty flavor with a slight hop bitterness on the end with not much lactose flavor, which I liked. Moderate body and carbonation. Overall not bad.

Just meh. Based on the other reviews I was expecting a characteristic stout with a sweet finish. Based on Southern Tier's other brews like Warlock, Choklat, and Creme Brulee I would expect that. But that was absent in this beer. Instead it was just bland. No real strong flavors of any sort came through. Not terrible but there are plenty of more interesting beers on the shelf. Update 10/30: Gave this beer another shot. On this second taste the sweet, milk flavoring of the stout came through much better. Almost like a Whopper candy. Liked much better on this second try.

12oz bottle, dated about 7 months ago, so I wonder how sensitive it is to age sitting in a beer store. Pours with a big head that settles pretty quickly with lacing. Dark black but shows a little reddish brown light around the edges. Pretty standard roasted smell. Taste is rich, sweet, with some bitter chocolate. Mouthfeel is a little astringent, some carbonation, pretty smooth. Overall, a decent milk stout but has room for improvement. As I said, this had been in the store for about 7 months.

Drank out of a standard pint glass, poured dark brown-black with a 1 inch head that doesn't cream like stout and leaves a bit of lace. Aroma is of milk and chocolate powder with a hint of fruit. Taste is sweet with creamy lactose and chocolate up front trailing of to a dark fruit and a hint of hoppiness.

If you are looking for a nice stout this is worth trying.

Another Southern Tier offering that simply did not disappoint.

Beautifully dark, decent head, and some lacing round out the look of this particular brew. I tried very hard to smell something out of the beer, but I simply couldn't. It at least did not overpower me with hops, so that at least was there. Good feel with a distinct carbonation at the start and then a creamy feel to finish. Good strong, but not overly bitter stout taste - comparable to some of the better ones I have had. Overall a solid brew that I would reach for anytime.
