Poured from 12 oz bottle into shaker pint.
A: Pours pitch black with a couple mm light tan head that quickly recedes. Thin sticky lacing.
S: Caramel and chocolate malt with a hint of coffee and cream.
T: Follows aroma almost precisely...more of an alcohol presence here which gives a small boost to the predominately darker taste characteristics (caramel, chocolate, coffee).
M: Light-medium body. Fairly smooth with a bitter coffee finish. Hint of astringent hops in the finish too.
D: A decent brew, but not excellent. Seems like the latest thing for milk stouts is to pump up the ABV...and this one handles it well.

Poured into an Elysian snifter. Pours pitch black with a fine one finger light brown head with awesome retention and lacing. Aroma dominated by chocolate with mellow roasted malt; sweet. Flavor is chocolate, nuts, mild roasted malt. This is sweet and viscous, very reminiscent of a stout with whipped cream added; there is a detectable whipped cream element to the flavor. Nice medium to heavy, creamy body with a mouth feel that wouldn't be out of place from a nitro pour, although this is fron a bottle. A very nice mildly sweet stout. In my opinion, Southern Tier is the master of sweet stouts and this is another winner in their line up. A must for those who like the sweet stout style.

(Served in a snifter)
A- This beer pours an obsidian black body with a think tan head that fades to a ring soon after the pour.

S- The mellow roasted black malt has a nougat lactose sugar smell in the finish.

T- The chocolate malt has a slight cream flavor to it with a full medium roasted black malt flavor with some graham finish and a touch of char bitterness.

M- The medium mouthfeel has a creamy fizz in the finish with no alcohol heat noticed.

O- This beer has a mellow but nice roasted black malt flavor but the lactose sugar taste is a bit too strong for the rest of the flavors.
