A - Pours with two fingers of white foam on top of a clear, golden body. The head settles slowly and leaves excellent lace.

S - Light, bready malt with a bit of grapefruit and pine.

T - Sweet malt and pine up front with some fruity hop notes. More of the same in the middle with a finish of sugary grain, mild bitterness and a lingering, spicy hop character.

M - Mediuum thick body, moderate carbonation, and a sweet finish.

D - oddly sugary for the style but it has a nice hop character and remains relatively drinkable despite the sweetness.

Light haze from a semi-careful decanting. Light amber. Sudsy inch cap with lovely lacing.

Lots of citrus and leafy hops. Wonderfully balanced pale malt and faint floral notes.

Citrus first, but floral hops, too. Dry maltiness with bitterness. Not astringent. Somewhat soapy. Not your familiar American hop profile.

Simple feel. Scrubby carb. Lighter side of medium in body. Very drinkable.

Solid pale ale. One that I'd go for.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 3/7/2013. Pours hazy and cloudy pale golden amber color with a nice 2 finger dense and fluffy white head with incredible retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of huge grapefruit, orange zest, orange pith, lemon zest, pineapple, tangerine, floral, grass, light pine, light honey, and floral earthiness. Incredible aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus notes with big strength. Taste of grapefruit, orange zest, orange rind, lemon zest, tangerine, floral, grass, light pine, light honey, and floral earthiness. Lingering notes of citrus, citrus zest, floral, grass, light honey, light pine, and floral earthiness on the finish for a bit. Very nice balance and complexity of citrus hop flavors; with a solid malt backbone and zero cloying flavors present on the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a a very smooth, crisp, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a highly excellent pale ale. Great balance and complexity of citrus hop flavors; and very smooth to drink. A highly enjoyable offering.

I love a good APA, but it's been a while since I've had a great new packaged one. Southern Tier just started bottling Live, so I hope it stands up. The appearance, at the very least, does. Live pours a hazy orange color with a large head. The aroma is briskly hoppy, providing sharp citrus over light caramel malts and grains. The taste is hoppy and clean, with the sharp citrus and a touch of pine cutting over grainy malts to a very clean finish. The mouthfeel is light and well-carbonated, and the drinkability is great. Overall, Live is a solid APA. It falls to the age-old problem with APAs though - where a six-pack costs almost as much as a twelver of Sierra Nevada, and it's not really better than SNPA.

Found a single of this in my mix and match section at my local House of 1,000 beers.

A - Somewhat hazy bright orange yellow with a 1/2 inch of bubbly foam. Lacing is excellent.
S - Ah bright mellow pineapple and citrus hops. Somewhat grassy with sweeter malts and pale malts. Simple but smells balanced.
T - A very clean pale ale that really balances the bittering hops with pale sweet malts. Nothing new but a great beer.
M - Very crisp with a light to medium body. Sessionable ABV.

Overall I always try anything these guys put out and I could see picking up a case of this. A very drinkable hoppy pale ale.

A: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a golden yellow color and a slightly cloud texture. There was a half inch of foamy, fairly long-lasting head. Good lacing.

S: A very sweet, fruity, and hoppy aroma. Enticing.

T: Tasted of light hops, a little bit of malt, and a generous (though not excessive) helping of citrus. Not necessarily a groundbreaking flavor, but light refreshing and tasty.

M: A good amount of carbonation with a somewhat slick finish. Light-bodied.

O: On the whole, this is a straightforward and easy to like beer. Drinkable.

Bottle > Pint Glass, (Also had on tap)
A - Pours a slightly hazed yellow, big 2 finger white head, and good lacing.
S - Not a whole lot goin on in the aroma area, but some nice light malt, citrus, and a hint of wheat.
T - Good flavor, a great balance of citrus hops, some real light fresh bread malt, a touch of pine.
M - Nothing extravagant but very refreshing.
O - Great pale ale, just in time for summer, kind of a minor step up from P&M but I could drink this all year round, but especially in summer.

EDIT: Having this multiple times, including on tap, this beer is just stupid good for and APA, unbelievably refreshing, flavorful, and definitely sessionable.

A - Hay colored orange/yellow. Mine hand a foaming 1 finger head that dissipated fairly quickly.

S - Sweet malty smell with subtle citrus notes

T - Again sweet malts, very pleasant orange and mild grapefruit. Light bitterness. Well balanced.

M - Medium/Light. Not overly carbonated but bubbles dance on the tounge.

O - The store I go to (shout out to Syosset Beverage on Long Island). Lets me pick single bottles out of a six pack and basically build my own 6er. I saw this and never saw it before so I picked one up to try. What a pleasant surprise. I will definitely go back and pick up a full 6 pack of this stuff. It's a great spring/summer session brew. It does come off more like a light IPA instead of a Pale Ale. I just started homebrewing and I really appreciate the fact that it is bottle conditioned. When you pour it in a glass you can see the little yeast cake in the bottom of the bottle so if thats not your thing you should be extra careful on the pour.

Overall a very nice beer that I will buy throughout the spring/summer season. Great Job Southern Tier !!! <3

Curious about this one. Pours a nice, thick head. Light colored in my shaker pint glass. smells terrific. Citrus hops. Tastes the same. Big favors, almost an IPA really. This is basically a delicious session able IPA. I'll enjoy many more of these this summer. Dig Southern Tier.
