Poured from bottle into a pint glass

Appearance – The beer pours an orange-amber color with a one finger white-orange tinted head. The head is composed of big bubbly carbonation bubbles. It head fades slowly over time to leave a moderate level of lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma is quite sweet overall with lots of caramel and a sweet corn syrup smell. Along with these aromas are some smells of bread and a bit of hop, mainly of a hay/grassy nature.

Taste – The taste begins sweet and bready with lots of biscuit and bready malt flavors mixed with caramel and a bunch of adjunct corn sweetness. Although the taste loses a little bit of its sweetness toward the end of the taste, it is still very sweet overall. While the sweetness lessens in strength ever so lightly, the breadiness gains more strength. Toward the end some hop flavors of a citrus and earthy nature come to the tongue, leaving a very lightly hopped, sweet and bready flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is quite thick and creamy with a carbonation level that is on the more average to slightly lighter side. The thick body is quite nice for all the bready and lighter hop flavors of the brew making for a mouth coating feel and really allowing these flavors to linger and be sensed. While very nice for the bready flavors, the thicker body is a little too much for the sweeter corn flavors in the brew making this flavor a bit too overpowering.

Overall – Sorta like a thicker and creamier malt liquor with a bit more hop than normal. Like a high end malt liquor. Not too bad if that is what you are in the mood for actually.

$1.99 for a 12oz bottle @ BevCo. Brewed with "Lager yeast at ale temperature, two varieties of hops, three varieties of malts" per the website. ABV: 8.0%

Pours out to a brilliantly clear light copper, forming a tall creamy light yellow head with excellent retention and solid lacing. The nose is clean with a slight fruitiness, a little earthiness, some husky malt, and a touch of crystal malts. Mouthfeel is smooth with a crisp finish and a medium dense body. The taste is kinda like a hoppy mai-bock...some slight DMS and a touch of earth in the middle, then a pleasantly firm hop bitterness which lingers over into the aftertaste and finish. Biscuity malt note. I taste lots of melanoidin malt. Some faint rubber and sharpee marker in the aftertaste. Peppery flourish of alcohol there as well. No off flavors. I don't get the Northern Brewer mint I was expecting for a 2x steam.

A good beer, but it's just a bit much. The melanoidin character is quite strong and needs dialed back to improve it's drinkability, perhaps replaced with Munich (if indeed, that is what they are using). One of these is plenty.

Obtained a 6 pack at a local distributor. 12 oz poured into pint glass.

A: Nice copper color with an insane amount of carbonation visible. Good for the style.

S: I must admit, there is not much there at first. Had to drink 8 oz for the beer to open up. The most prominent smell is the alcohol and malts. I think this may be due to the fact that the beer is just about 3 months from the bottling date.

T: Butterscotch and alcohol followed by malts and a lingering hop presence. Sounds strange but tastes quite good despite being a bit old.

M: Best part of the beer IMO. Light bodied with plenty of carbonation to balance the alcohol.

O: Pretty good beer for the style. I'm a fan of most of the Southern Tier beers I've tried, so I figured it was a must I tried this beer when I saw it. I wouldn't buy an entire 6 again, but could see myself having one or two as a session beer on the beach.

Pretty god beer. Poured cold, with smallish, cream-colored head that soon settled and almost no lace. Color is a clear deep, orange-copper-amber with plenty of bubble trails. Aroma is hop, malt, oak, spice. Flavor’s like nose, plus caramel and Is rich. Body is full, not too counter to its heavy bitterness, and has great carbonation. Finish is like flavor, with bitter hanging in there to the end.

12oz bottle from ABC Liquor in Orlando. Poured a clear pale orange body with a two-finger off white head. Aroma of Nilla wafers, milk (yeah milk), and starfruit. Medium-light body body and slightly sticky texture. Medium carbonation. Flavor is light butterscotch and pink grapefruit muted by piney long hop finish. A refreshing brew, starting with interesting spicy quality anf finishing like an IPA. Nice brew. Creative.
