Edit :: Over half of the IPA's I've obtained from this place are horribly gross and way spoiled. No can dating on some of these cans so it was a shot in the dark but a bunch of these must have been from when Obama was in office. Terrible quality here. You don't keep track of your rotation, ever?? I'm so pissed. Also overcharged for beers that were priced differently. Lied to. Avoid this place.

-----

LD's Beer Run is a little shack in an open parking lot real close to a corner gas station.

The inside is a bit cluttered and a little run down but CHOCK full of beers, and at first a bit dis-jointed as you see there's almost no complete six packs - which thereupon you learn that EVERYTHING is a single, simply divided up by six or by four (i.e. one beer from a $12 six pack means a $2 single). Most of the six packs are higher than I'm used ($11+) to but again this is the only place I've shopped in Mississippi so far.

The two guys chatting simply nodded and left me alone to carouse as I pleased, and only opened conversation once I started it, something I'm sure many folks appreciate as they like to browse privately. Once we got to talking, we really got into some good conversation - the best MS breweries, sports, beer styles, etc. Got a couple samples from their growler station.

Their selection was pretty darn good - not many styles covered but that's probably the fault of the local breweries more than the store. Mostly IPA's with a few pilsners, lagers, and golden ales - not much in the way of stouts except for a really sweet Peanut Butter Pinstripe Stout from Blue Pants. I am a serial reviewer so naturally I was in heaven being able to try one or two of each beer without committing to a six pack.

In the end what really counts is that I ended up dropping almost $100.00 there. And if the selection and quality isn't there, a person just doesn't drop that kind of coin. I got probably 40 unique beers and a few doubles and triples of some.

***Things I would improve would be the layout so that it's not quite so cluttered (I felt a little crowded); Quality score gets a hit as there was a ton of IPA's sitting out on racks NOT cooled which means they degrade faster (I simply picked from the IPA's in the tiny walk-in) and some were close to dating out; And the vibe could really be less crowded and spruced up with a lil' spit shine with some reorganizing and brighter lighting, and upgrade the outside to not look like a cigarette shack.

If you're looking for one-offs of several MS, TN, LA, and GA beers, this is your place, without a doubt. I don't think I'll need to stop anywhere else in MS as I've pretty much just gained access to anything and everything the deep south has to offer.

My most expensive beer venture thus far in the deep south, and that's not a bad thing.

Edit : The quality took another hit as a few of the IPA's I had were way past their prime and weren't dated. Barleywine-status. Unfortunate. Definitely don't buy the IPA's unless they have dating and are cooled.

Edit 2 : glanced over my receipt and my singles were much higher than "just divide the six pack price by six". $4 for a single of Crowd Control?? And I tipped those guys, too. Wtf.

Ive been to all the bottle-shops that I can seem to find around town. This particular one appears to be my new stop. There selection was the best I have seen in MS yet.I don't typically do reviews but this place deserves a review.
Pros- Great selection,super-friendly and knowledgeable guys working(I could spend all day talking beer with these guys),the atmosphere here is awesome they had delta blues playing in the background.

Cons-I don't live next door

P.S. Was kinda hidden . Its behind the Colonial Mart Shell off Old Canton Rd

Pros:
The owners are knowledgeable and friendly
I’d tap that Thursday’s 25% off growler fills
Good beer selection, especially local MS beer offerings
You can buy anything in the store as a single - mix 6 available

Cons:
On the small side
No dedicated area to enjoy a pint

Like everyone is saying, this is the go to spot for beer in the Jackson metro area. Larry and Dylan know beer and are passionate about it. This isn't side gig for these guys as they are the owners. You can tell quite a difference in knowledge and customer service versus their competitors.

They have about anything that is possible to be sold in the metro area. They have good relationships with the distributors and generally get whatever is the latest and greatest as soon as it's available.

Their prices are also much better than the grocers and other beer shops around town.

The guys at LD's know beer and offer the best selection in Jackson. They have several taps for pints or growlers. Definitely stop by if you are in town.

I echo what the others said. Great staff! Eager to assist and gave me some samples. Very close to my workplace so they will see me again. I am slightly concerned about their location.

Finally stopped by to check this spot out yesterday. As mentioned above, both Larry and Dylan were there. Great selection and these guys know beer. They have only been open a couple of months and are already planning their first special event in May. Growler fills are up and running, and you can bring in any growler for fill. Whenever I am in that area of town it will be my craft beer package store.

LD's is a diamond in the rough that has the potential to be a fan favorite in the jackson area. The 2 owners, Larry and Dylan, are very beer savvy and take the time to talk beer. Although it's just a few weeks old, LD's Beer Run is beginning to stock some really great stuff. And the prices can't be beat. You can buy singles, too. I'm told growler fills are coming soon. Give 'em a try. The service and friendly folks will keep you coming back.

In a very short time, LD's has become one of the go-to places in Jackson for beer and brew talk. The local homebrew club is even doing a demonstration in a couple months. One can often find a group of friends sampling beers brought in for the owners. Customers are put at ease with beer knowledge, taste testing a product (if it's on draft) and the fact that you can buy a single if you want to. And now they have 25% off growler fills every Thursday. LD's is my kinda beer store; not just a place that sells you beer.

Store just opened in late December 2014. They are just getting started, but have an outstanding selection for the Jackson area. Jackson's distributors are still stuck on Lite and Bud (especially Bud). Owners are there all day and have a great attitude and knowledge about their beer. they will be filling growlers in the near future.

This will be my go to store for commercial craft beers.
